Featured Replies

Hi there. Just discovered this morning that the carpet was wet in the passenger side footwell of my fabie 89?? Any ideas?

Cheers

If it's the front; blocked scuttle drain channels, if it's the back; the usual door leak.

Where abouts exactly are the front scuttle drain channels?I've noticed my drivers side front carpet is wet the past few days and I presumed it was the dreaded door leaks but if this is the case that its the drain holes that's brilliant :D

Thanks KR MAN. I just need to know what the scuttle drain channels look and where they are located now as Im completley clueless lol! :)

I think the drain channels are right in front of the windscreen. Remove wipers and remove the black plastic cover across the front of the car, as if you were trying to get into the window wiper motor. Either side of the compartment (looks like they go into the wing) are the holes, usually blocked with leaves.

Hope my bad explanation helps.

That's about right, I also had to remove the pollen filter cover to get at mine to clean them out on the passenger side. I'd get to the dealer and get some scuttle cover clips as you'll probably break them getting them out. I also needed a puller tool to get my wiper arms off (got a cheap one from machine mart).

There are some threads on the net that refer to a blocked cover under the soundproofing on the bulkhead, I couldn't find one on mine so I don't know if it's a year specific thing or not.

Just had the same problem with mine, there was enough water laying in the tray to put fish in it.. Made a puller to get the wiper arms off (dad helped a lot) pushed drian holes through and then aqua-vacced debris.. Thanks to everyone who has posted on this topic, I couldnt have done without you.

(homemade wiper puller available for hire if in Southampton area).
