I hit a kerb!!! Damn trucks!

Featured Replies

Driving to work this morning, just washed the car, lookin all nice & shiny....come traffic lights, and there are three trailer trucks waiting to go too. Law here says these trucks ain't allowed to be on the roads after 8 am. Anyways, so im trying to make for a right at the lights, but the d*** in one of the trailers is turning right too, and he is slightly ahead of me. So I decide to step on it and try and squeeze through, the end result being I scrape my rear right & fron right wheels on the damn kerb  I'm so ****ed off about it, now my rims are scratched

I hope those trailer truck drivers have a bad accident and are hospitalized for a week so that they learn their damn lesson about breaking the law!

Anyone know of any way to fix the scratched rims? (If I din't have rim guards on the tires it would have been much worse).

Man, it sounds like it was entirely your fault. And you want them to be hospitalised? That's appalling.

Trucks often have to take a wide line, in order to clear a corner. To hammer up the inside of a truck that is turning is near-suicidal: you're lucky it wasn't worse.

You would do better to learn from this, so you can avoid this situation in future, than to blame the poor lorry driver.

Ouch  be careful saying things like that, bad karma :hippy:

Poor lorry driver????

He wasn't supposed to be on the roads at that time in the first place, lorry drivers here are given a time to be aloowed on the roads because traffic levels are mountainous.

Right. So that gives you a reason to try and overtake him, even though you know he's turning right? Will that be any consolation while you're laying in casualty with a spinal injury?

A lot of people brake minor traffic rules over here, as well. That doesn't mean I wish them harm, or try to ram my way past them.

Defensive driving is key. As I said, you should learn from this, and not try it again, or you may suffer a lot worse than a couple of kerbed wheels.

No offence intended, but I'm inclined to agree. People annoy me all the time, like trying to overtake when they shouldn't, yet I manage to resist the temptation to put my foot down and leave them in no mans land...

Driving assertively but not aggressively is the key to good, safe progress...

Reminds me of the time...........

A Ford Fiesta MK 1 tried the same move and got crushed by the lorry

The driver of the Fiesta survived but how

Sounds like a bit of chance you took there...better to lose a second in your life than your life in a second, trust me

Not sure where I stand on this as I tend to make decisions sometimes which I then reflect on afterwards and decide it was stupid but the above line really sums it all up. Lets just read that line again and leave it there.

Stay cool, dont over-react and live another day :)
