Cam chain tensioner

Featured Replies

Trying to source a cam chain tensioner for my VRs.

Local supplier seems to be looking for about £350.

Anyone know if thisis the correct one (shipped from the US) or anywhere else I can try?

1.8T VRS doesn't have a cam chain it has a belt & you should expect to pay about £250 for supply & fit of cambelt kit which will include the tensioner.

Eurocarparts for an aftermarket kit or Trade Part Specialists for a genuine VAG kit.

It does have a chain linking the 2 cams together as theres only one top pulley the belt runs over.

Oops forgot about that :giggle:

That tensioner serves as the VVT controller for cold starts and yep I'm pretty sure that's an expensive part to replace :(

The one above may do it, youd have to try and cross check parts numbers etc though.

What is actually wrong with the chain tensioner, that it needs replaced?had a Leon cupra at work the other week that had a noisy chain tensioner but it was down to low oil pressure, choked oil pump pick up pipe.

I don't know much but I know they are oil pressure controlled, so the above post may help you at a guess
