Changing digital speedo units

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Am very used to having a digital speedo on my old Audi and was pleased to see the same on the Skoda, however it is in km/h not mp/h! I like to think im quite technically minded and have searched all the options to try and find away of changing it! Annoyingly I have found options to change other units just not that one!

Anyone else know how to do that?!

Also found an option for when you swap to winter wheels that allows you to adjust the speedometer by +/- 5mph; saw some people were having issues with that.

Pretty well covered, you can get it to read MPH but needs recoding for another country.

It can be done with VAGCOM (something to do with changing the country to Australia) - PM Gizmo68 who is the expert on these things - there is a thread on it somewhere on here but I can't find it.

Australia I think as previously posted on this forum. Needs a software change by someone

with right kit. Dealer might not oblige as a non standard change.

Not sure if any other implications in changing country other than Roo detection functionality (LOL)!!

Thanet?

I now have a VCDS in Mid Essex + East London area.

Thought I'd mention it here as there are a few Yeti owners nearby.

Thanet?

Isle of Thanet, Broadstairs, Margate And Ramsgate.

Used to be an island etc etc

Being a resident, i can only apologise for the experience you will have! Something serious would of had to of brought you here!

I think you are misinterpreting the MFD options. The manual states the following about the Winter Tyres setting in the MFD:

Here you can set at which speed a warning signal should sound. This function is used for e.g winter tyres with the permissible maximum speed less than the maximum speed of the vehicle.

In other words, if your winter tyres are only rated to eg 80mph, you can set the MFD to pop up a warning if you exceed the tyres' rated speed. That's certainly the way it works on my Yeti (tested with the warning speed set at 30mph!)

I suspect it would actually be illegal to have an adjustment for the speedo such as you describe. In any case, to correct for the different rolling circumference of a smaller tyre, the adjustment should be a percentage, not a fixed number of mph.

EJ is correct on both counts.
