Skoda Favorit

Featured Replies

Hi again All

Got a problem, that just occured yesterday with the old Skoda FAVORIT

The small metal terminal that goes on to the Heated bit of the back window has fallen off , tried to stick it back on with filler but doesnt work. Is there anything that will stick It back on. Also with this hard frost we are having, the heating is Crap, I fill a hot water bottle and stick it on the dash, then keep scraping the window, and it is funny because after a while I have to turn the heater down cos Its really hot, THERE IS NO HAPPY MEDIUM.

Well the heater getting toasty hot is a good sign. It will obviously take longer to heat up in winter when everything is colder and you're blowing cold air across the heater matrix to try demist the screen. It should ideally start to blow noticeably warmer than outside after about 5 minutes, and take longer to get toasty hot - maybe 10-15 minutes in current cold. Needing to adjust the heater is normal unless you have a more modern car with climate control which automatically adjusts itself to maintain the correct temperature inside the car.

You need an electrically sound method of sticking the terminal on the rear screen. Careful use of solder and a soldering iron might work but need to be careful of applying too much heat to the glass - particularly if the glass itself is cold. I can't think of a better way unfortunately.

I've done it to my Favorit. What I used was one of these glue guns the ones that heat up the sticks of glue.

You can get clear glue sticks which is what I used and it worked a treat. Before attaching I wrapped some small threads of wire around the connector to ensure I had a connection then I glued around the edges. The great thing is the glue it dry enough in seconds.

I did this about a year ago and it's still working fine on my car which is used daily.

I know it's a bit of a bodge but really did work for me :-)
