Featured Replies

hi guys i am thinking of changing the stereo in the vrs but i am unsure if this one will fit straight in without any bother. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/11755.html.

the other one i was looking at is the double din the one you get for the skodas in the octavia. any advise on stereo would be greatful.

Link isn't working, well for me at least.

Second link works. Look nice!

Nice..... So you have to carry your ipod around with you at all times or maybe leave it in the car =/!

You shouldn't have any problems BUT as far as I know to make the perfect fit you have to purchase a black plastic frame specific to the stereo model that goes around the unit, clips, and makes the installation stealthy otherwise you will have gaps. Below is a pic of my old 2Din stereo system. I've highlighted the frame in green for you - it wasn't the best looking but on my new system the frame is much better quality and design wise.

Buy the way I highly recommend this one: Pioneer AVH-3300BT

It is the unit I got now and I've been very pleased.

Unfortunately yes :( for me it wasn't a problem as I don't own an iPhone. I store all my music on an MicroSD which when inserted in the unit is very stealthy. What really sold me was the fact that its got bluetooth which in my case my car didn't come with and I always wanted to be able to pickup my calls without the need of extra accessories.

sorry 32k i meant i have the multi function stearing wheel with the phone button on it but for some reason cant find the bluetooth on the stereo i tried to pair it but must not have it. would it be dear to get the dealership to add the bluetooth onto the stereo. or would i be better off getting the one you recomend.

To be honest I don't know what would be the best option. :( I think (can't be 100% sure) that the Pioneer unit will work fine with your steering wheel controls and it will also display info on screen (caller id etc) but might need an extra module for that you also need to find a good spot for the mic. Troubling I know :/

i think if i go for the pioneer one i will put the mic near the interior mirror as this is were i had it on old car but that was a single din. do you get all the mic stuff with the head unit. i thkn you need conector for the stearing wheel to work right with head unit.

I installed my mic in here:

There was nothing in there just a sponge which I removed and stuck the mic inside - I guess in other models those perforations must conceal some instrument but in my case nothing. All wiring went through the front of the roof down the pillar and behind the dash to the back of unit so the whole result is very stealthy and the voice can be picked up fine.

I believe too you need some sort of connector for the steering wheel dials so the unit can properly communicate with the steering wheel controls.
