coolant level

Featured Replies

Hi,

I must admit I'm completly unexpirince with car mechanics.

I had to top up coolant and i added to much (level in expansion tank is one centymeter above max level).

Should i get rid off exces or is it somekind backup valve which in case of to much presure will release it?

Thank you for your help.

Greg

It should be ok its just because when the engine is hot, the coolant level rises about 1cm in the bottle so if you've already overfilled it then it won't have room to rise much more. If you're worried about it then take some of it out with a turkey baster until its between min and max

You should probably be ok, but if you really wanted you could remove some.

I dunno if the Fabia suffers the same issue as the Octavia, but on the Octavia the prongs in the coolant tank get bubbles on them, which then makes a "coolant low" warning light come on even though it isn't. This seems to happen more in winter months.

One of my work makes has a Fabia 1.4, but on his we could not get to the prongs to clean them (on my Octavia, they are easy to get at).
