exhaust upgrades...

Featured Replies

I have searched through several pages now and used the search button but cant seem to find the answer i was looking for so here it goes, what exhaust would people recommend....... would people suggest something like a miltek or jetex or would it make no difference to performance and would be more cost effect to go for the cheaper options like some of the "powerflow" option. I must admit i am not sure what the powerflow one entails exactly so if some one could shed some light i would appreciate it.

I am going to go for a de-cat but instead of buying an expensive de-cat i am just going to have a pipe welded in its place, i will be getting the map adjusted when i do that in order to hep protect the turbo.

thanks matt

I`m not sure what size the above ones are, but mine are a bit more "filling" of the cut out.

The price that the piper systems are i`d just go for one of those personally. Best sounding exhaust i`v heard (IMO), you also have a choice of lots of tips (I have the twin round). They are also very well made and pretty good value I reckon.

i will have a look into that, cheers buddy

do you have a link for that please? sounds interesting :)

iv been doing alot of research on here and seems like the standard vrs exhaust is good up to 200bhp? and i don't think a performance exhaust offers much in bhp to the vrs...

its sound i am after really as i am not sure i will be going anywhere near 200 bhp

In reality you can go past 200bhp with a stock exhaust. I did notice a quicker spool up with the Piper over standard and milltek, but the main reasons I upgraded was for looks noise.

Check out the Unit 18 section on here for prices etc.

I picked up a Jetex exhaust of the 'bay for £200 delivered.

It says ex-dem but he's posting out new ones. Excellent quality and extremely easy to fit.

Delivered very quickly too.

i coould buy a milltek for £331 or whatever it is on ebay or get a full custom turboback from GI motorsport near me with tip choice, is this a no brainer?

Yeah just get some kinda review of their work from someone first. My mate paid well over the odds for a poor system from some exhaust place who promised everything. Once he looked over it he wishedhe had just bought a off the shelf system or taken it somewhere decent.

If you're in the Northwest then Pipewerx near Wigan are excellent. £400-ish for a full stainless steel custom exhaust and it's exactly what you want, not something off the shelf.

No problem, just pm me.

The Jetex system is a bargain. 2.5" stainless steel system for £200 delivered. Fits straight on to the cat, and the whole system is a perfect fit.

It seems the Jetex one may be the one for the win, afterall if there is not much of a performance gain then surely there is not much point spending twice the price for a custom. I will pm you mate my number so we can arrange a wee swindon meet.

Exactly all that cash basically for a bit of exhaust noise now if we were talking about cars like say a Ferrari well then perhaps exhaust noise would really matter.

I got my exhausts done at GI and got to say im really pleased with it. Gary and the others there couldn't believe how good it sounds.

looks good mate, you got a clip of the sound of the exhaust and if you dont mind me asking how much did that cost

Buy a full milltek system, Leave off the backbox, drive up to your local custom exhaust garage and have them make up a replacement straight up pipe with tip of your choise. I don't see any performance gains to be had via changing the exhaust around. The noise isn't droney at all. Only loud on WOT and that's just my 2p worth.

Having seen the Piper one fitted up I know I'd be going for that.

I really want to hear a pipercross one. I want an exhaust but i dont want it loud in the car as i have a 2 year old and its used everyday.

My mate Jake has one and his is loud with NO Wo0o0o0oo noise when you let off.

It's not droney when cruzing about, only loud when on BOOST!

I love my exhaust.
