Brembo 4 pots. Any modifications needed?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have just bought some of seat leon cupra r brembo calipers. Do they need any adaptations to fit? Such as brake hoses etc? I know they fit straight on with the carriers but just wanted to double check before fitting.

Cheers

Just ensure your wheel offset is suitable.

Octavia vRS 17" spiders with 5mm spacers.

I have the same brakes on my Octavia vRS, so long asyou give them a damn good bleed and do it 3 to 4 times they are spot on! Love them and they stop the car very fast! Going to put the front and rear brakes off my Octavia onto my Fabia some time.

You will need the brake flexi pipes from the Leon also, standard lines won't fit.

They're a load of :swear:

They ain't really. Better that standard. Not much better than 312 either. keep warping/cracking discs.

New ferrado pads + new discs £350-400

kSport 8 pots incl discs and pads £800

sale of my brembo's £400ish

I know where I'd rather put my money...

Never warped or cracked mine and they are definitely a step up from 312s :) If they weren't I'd have swapped back years ago. :) The only annoying side is having to look into spacers any time you want to fit a wheel which won't clear as standard.

Exactly.

I can see your point, I`v been weighing a new set of brakes for the new year (mainly for looks tbh B) ) and unless a cheap set of brembo`s come up I think i`ll be going down the K sport route. Saves on the "Scene tax" that brembo`s have on them. You also have the bonus of more clearance with wheels, the bloke at Unit 18 who had them fitted to his octavia had no spacers on

you don't really drive hard in fairness though

there's driving hard, and there's driving like a complete **** :p

do btcc drivers drive hard or drive like a complete ****?

They drive hard, in a race on a race circuit. Not exactly on the way to work..lol ;)

This is the downside of the Brembos.

I'm hoping to meet up with Luke over the next week or two and try one of my 17" spiders on his car with the K-sport brakes.

If they fit with no spacers I'll be changing to K-sport from Brembo.

There's a time and a place and then there's showing a degree of mechanical sympathy. :D

I've never run drilled discs which are usually bad for cracking and warping. I run "not for road use" pads too.

Don't see it as an option TBH

I'd have to really like the wheels for them to need spacers.

I don't drive half as hard as Luke would. I'm sure all it takes is to brake one time from 140 to 50 hard and they're ******.

I personally wanted Brembo's mainly for their looks. Mine look like **** now anyway from getting too hot for the lacquer.

That scenario doesn't really crop up too often though really, eh? :D At 140 if you have to brake for something, chances are you're not going to stop in time anyway. You travel 60 metres before you can even react to get on the pedal (1 second on average)

Quite often.

If the car is capable of them speeds then the brakes need to cater for them on a regular basis. Am I right in thinking that the fabia vRS brakes are the same as golf mk4 1.4 and all the bottom end VAG cars? I think that's appalling if so.

If you reach those speeds you need to stop sooner or later.

Golf MK4 1.4 uses 256mm FSIII brakes normally.

No Golf uses exactly the same brakes but the Pd130 Golf uses the same size as the vRS.

Doesn't the PD150 too, or are they slightly larger?

I think the anniversary trim level only got 312mm brakes (as found on TT, etc)

Erm Bedford back straight was 130mph braking hard down to 60mph or so every single lap

Why should you need to show mechanical sympathy? I want to drive my car as hard as I can on track and it handle everything I throw at it

Brembo's ARE ****, the callipers r brilliant but 1 piece discs die, tried 2 different brands, Ross tried 1, all crack and give the warp impression with pad residue, tried 3 different pads too

Ben did several fast to not a lot/stationary runs in his Octavia at Heyford with Goochie and Johnny5ive - the disks aren't warped or cracked, the pads haven't fallen apart and the Octavia 4x4 is heavy

Several... Try doing an all day track day at Bedford driving on the edge, the discs would be ****** afterwards
