Turning Key in Ignition temp kills electronics

Featured Replies

Hi all I got a lovely Christmas present from my car this year in that all the electronics and everything to go dead when turn key in ignition. This lasts for a few minutes and then comes back online allows me to start, but with loads of error messages and everything reset. All the errors then stop after a couple of minutes driving. Any ideas or sound familiar?

Bank holiday means no body in local Skoda garage service department!

Cheers,

James

I could guess the ignition switch has started to fail....

I would second that, having had it happen on my Octavia 1.

Get it done sooner rather than later, because it can get hugely irritating. I was seriously contemplating pushing mine off a cliff. We're friends now though.

2007 Octavia 1?

Or is it an Octavia 2? If it is ignition switch issues are pretty common with modified parts now supplied.

Booked in at the garage just after New Year so will keep my fingers crossed, not something the garage were aware off however. Today has been a good day with no issues. Annoyingly (for car issues not personal) seeing family in various places over Christmas so the spare of keys are elsewhere so can't do a simple key fault check.

Thanks for suggestions though.

There is a bulletin on the switches if they cared to look.
