Speaker wiring help

Featured Replies

Hey,

So I'm trying to install at set of pioneer ts-a171ci speakers to my vrs.

When I took off the oem speakers there is 2 pairs of + and - connections. But there is only 1 + and - on the pioneer speakers.

Should I just splice the +'s and -'s together coming in and attach them both to each connection on the pioneer?

One set will be for the door speakers and the other will be for the tweeters. How were you planning on wiring the tweeters up?

Hi I know what u mean its the same with the rear shelf speakers I had a MK1 vRS and the tweeter is seperate. You could cut the wires and join the two +'s and two -'s but what I did was buy some VW speaker adaptors from ebay they fit the original connectors but didnt work as the way they were wired meant I had only two -'s and no +'s very complicated lol so I cut and joined wires on the adaptor to make one + and one - rather than butcher the original wiring loom I still have the modified adaptors.....

So I just joined the wires together. They both went to a single terminal on the original speaker so it made sense.

Regarding the tweeters, I just disconnected them. Sounds much better now.

Yes splice them in. As mentioned the std front main speakers have double connetors to allow wires to go up to the front tweeters. If you plan on still using the tweeters you will need to splice those wires back to you front Pioneers.
