Changing the clutch on a Mk1 4x4 1.8T Estate...

Featured Replies

G/F's 4x4 estates clutch has started slipping - it's a 2002 Mk1 1.8T. It's due an MOT mid-Jan anyway, so I as going to park it up in my garage and change the clutch and other bits needed for the MOT (rear discs/pads etc)

Been looking around for any details on the actual clutch change, but there's not much info about. I'm happy with clutches, just wondering if there's anything specific to watch out for on the 4x4 Octavias?

Not really, it's all straight forward, unbolting the prop is fairly easy and other than that and a bracket on the block to the transfer box it's not much different to a 2WD

if you think the dmf is getting a bit old in the tooth, or just want a bulletproof replacement, look into the mk3 golf VR6 clutch replacement, bolts straight on

around £200ish all in for parts - worth it in the long run if you intend to keep teh car
