Interior Dash Sound

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone experiencing a loose washer or similar loose fitting in the dashboard area passenger side?

Appreciate any thoughts and quick fixes...or is it a dealership issue at big bucks? Best sound description is akin to a nut ontop of a nervous washing machine?

Sound is intermittant not constant.

Will the sound stop, when you place your hand to glovebox from underneath? I have rattling from there and havent time to check it further.

i sometimes have a rattle which

is a pound coin which i placed on dashboard

for my mrs to put in the trolley

at the supermarket, only to see it slide down

the windscreen into the blackhole behind the dashboard.

Hope it stays away for you.

If it doesn't, I believe there are some quite common Passat rattles which come and go. See the links here:

dash creaks

more dash creaks

I found on mine the dash end cap near glovebox was rattling - it is very easy for this not to be fitted correctly in its clip/recess, and it has some rubber fittings to stop rattles which I believe can compress so much over time that they no longer do their jobs.
