Hood damper

Featured Replies

Ok so it appears that I have nothing better to do than browsing the Superskoda website, but I came across this and was wondering if anyone would be bothered to fit one to their Yeti?

It's listed at 39.99 euro plus post and packing. The Euro was quoted at 83pence sterling yesterday so I'll leave you to do the maths.

Personaly while I can see a use for it I think I can live with just lifting the bonnet manualy and placing the stay in position for now.

Just ordered one-the lack of a hydraulic bonnet stay, like the fuzzy felt battery cosy, are annoying low rent items which let down the otherwise high quality build. The Golf V battery box is already fitted.

I tend to agree. My last 4 cars before the Yeti had such a device, and I was surprised to find out this car didn't. Think I'll be next in the queue.

Yeah i agree i had it on my golf and although a hidden and little used device it still gives that air of a better designed/quality car than the manual lift and prop bonnet hood on there at the moment.

Also nearly got caught by a bonnet on my old focus when the wind caught it and lifted it up off the prop and then slammed back down again

Interested, but put off by the 25 Euros postage :(

Mmm, might have to wait until next month.

I signed up to a group buy for a rear bumper guard for my Scout from SuperSkoda organised by another fellow Brisky member.

The item price was OK but by the time you added on their exorbitant postage and packing charges it became too expensive.

There were 10 of us I think, this way we were able to spread the postage charge across all 10 members which helped reduce the total amount quite nicely.

I reckon it would be easy enough to find 10 Yeti owners willing to buy?

I'm afraid I really like the Skoda philosophy: leave out the GeeGaws, concentrate on the REAL quality and keep the price modest. Even at past retirement age, I am not feeble enough not to be able to lift the bonnet and fit the keeper stick in the right place.

I'd put my name down for one in feb

An auto opening and closing rear hatch would be nice.

I'm fed up with getting my hands dirty, several times a day, to let the Dog in and out :smirk:.

I quite like the hood damper, but I know that even if I install it, I would still use the stick to prop it up for safety

It has arrived and is promising. Two sturdy brackets, a very good looking strut and a pair of nuts to join it all. It involves undoing the two big Torx screws which secure the hinge to the bonnet so I think I will pay a visit to my friend Dave the painter (an experienced car body repairer and painter) since I don't want to disturb the fit of the bonnet by undoing such substantial fixings without an experienced hand to turn to.

The superskoda site includes some sensible pictorial instructions.

So far so good.

I'm still tempted!

Was it €24.99 postage?

Please let us know how the fitting goes!

Will do! The total cost at today's exchange rate (although I accept I will not in reality see anything like that, bankers must be able to afford first growth Claret!) £56 and a bit.
