Anybody got any views on this one?

Seems like a good deal, 250min, unlimited txt, unlimited data, £10 a month !!!!

Just remember that your phone will have to be carrier unlocked in order to use these.

It's worth looking at 3 Network. They've got some very impressive sim on deals. 30 day rolling ones and 12 month ones. Defo worth looking at :)

Sounds like the giffgaff deal. UL internet is actually supposed to be 100mb a day.

If it is giffgaff you want, I can send you my affiliate link and I get £5 for the referral if you activate the sim card.

Giffgaff is brilliant. If you buy a new iPhone (for example) outright and use giffgaff for 18 months it's lots cheaper than a contract where the phones included

Just looked.

They quote; "If you're inside you may struggle to get a signal."

Well that's rather handy!

Bring on O2!

I've heard of people tethering and using far more than that with no problems. I think my next "contract" will be one of GiffGaff's packages, 30 days of commitment I can just about live with but I'm certainly not going for another 24 month contract if I can help it.

Tethering isnt allowed on the normal sims and you may get banned from data, despite it being "unlimited data". Which is why I went with a Three all in one plan, shed loads of minutes and texts and proper unlimited data and tethering. :) Reception has been fine, though I am not a heavy user and don't really give a monkeys if I very occasionally don't get a signal.

What's Tethering?

What's Tethering?

When you use your phone as an internet modem with a PC or Tablet(or other device). On a recent trip away I plugged in the phone and had my laptop and iPad running through the phone for internet. Useful if you need that kind of thing. :) If you don't need it Giffgaff is great otherwise not so great.

Thanks for the info. I know that's not what need.

Giffgaff must have a negative, anybody found it yet?

Oh yeah, I wouldn't use it permanently, but I know people who've used it for a week or so during house moves/broadband changes and gone way over that. Not with torrents or anything that makes it obvious, but just web use using a proper computer and graphically rich full sites. As long as you don't take the mickey and start sharing your movie archives, you'll probably be fine.

:( Some people just don't read their PM's do they? :(

..... tethering?

On the odd couple of times I've tried it with GG I couldn't get it to work so presumed it had some sort of port blocker active.

Yes they do!

You were 2nd on the list

If you have a rooted Android phone, you can get 3rd party apps that tether, but your network thinks your just on the internet on your phone. Problem solved :giggle:

My friend is with 3 and he has told me his reception is near perfect wherever he has been. When my cotract ended Vodafone bettered that of 3 and I stayed with them :)

I use to use giffgaff, was spot on! You would have to be hammering it very very hard to get over the data limit! I even used it for tethering for a while (this was a fair while ago though) without issues. I only left because I couldnt be doing with topping up all the time, after being use to a contract where it just goes out my account each day it was a ballache. I`m now on 3, no complaints so far, I cant understand the people at customer service but apart from that no issues. Hammer the net, use the tethering all the time when i`m out, spot on. No dropped call`s, no black spots they have come along way from the ****e that it was when they started out. The only network to offer fully unlimited net when I looked too.

I had a 3 contract phone, could only get a signal in l/room next to bay window, even had bad signal outside in garden, complained to 3 and was told that they had full coverage in my area. As soon as contract was up i got rid.

Well its not as good as it used to be. In terms of competitiveness, the other operators are catching up with better PAYG and no tie in SIM only deals. Giffgaff have also reduced their goody bag benefits and increased their tariffs during the same period as well. Don't forget its not fully supported either, if you have a problem then you have to hunt around the website or ask on the forums to get an answer. The biggest advantage is that you get rewards for signing up other people to the network. They only get redeemed every 6 months but if you're any good you can make a profit by using giffgaff.

Not sure why topping up is an issue to some people. You do it all online and you can enable an auto top-up so that when credit gets low it will automatically add credit. If you opt for a goody bag which is their monthly minutes/text/data plans you just set them up to run regularly.

I can't see me moving from giffgaff any time soon unless they hike thier prices/reduce their service further.

This wasn't available when I left, Hence my problem. Made a fair few quid signing people up at work tho! :D
