I'm going to try & get into the garage next week about this but thought I'd check with you guys first.

My partner was following me tonight - she was driving my car. The headlights on my car were quite dazzling but not the same as main beam would be. They also seemed to have a fluctuating pink to purple tint & when she was indicating it was quite hard to make out the indicator light. The lights don't look to be set too high. I do get flashed by oncoming drivers from time to time - now I know why.

I've not had the car from new so I'm guessing maybe the bulbs have been upgraded but I can't see a headlight bulb looking at the headlight - just a lens.

Could it be the bulbs?

Do you have the optional xenon headlights?

When these gas filled bulbs begin to fail they change colour, often a red / yellow / purple / pink colour rather than the bright white / blue colour. This may make it look brighter than it is and may also explain why it is closer in colour to the indicator than normal?

That crossed my mind but I read on here xenons have to be self-levelling. Mine has the manual dial.

its nothing to do with xenons - its a "projector lens" feature.

at the "cutoff", certain angles make the light appear purple/pink....sometimes blue.

think of light spectrum.....rainbow....etc etc.

look at a bubble in sunlight........

If you don't have aftermarket xenons then it might just be a poorly seated bulb? If the filament inside the halogen bulb is in the wrong place with respect to the rest of the projector assembly then the beam pattern will be completely wrong.

I think the bulbs have a lug to slot into so it shouldn't be wrong. Sounds like they maybe HIDs, you can always adjust the height with the manual dial.

Sounds good. I'll just get the levels checked.

I'm sure they aren't zenon. The lights are good but no wow factor as I'd have noticed not having xenons before plus I have the manual dial. I reckon the bulbs are in correct as it has the regular angled line between light & dark which is nice, sharp & constant.
