Need opinions now guys, i will be keeping the car for the forseeable future, and it will be going to shows etc this year, Once im done with some more mods etc, but the question is, do i so spend £912 on a leather retrim from seat surgeons? is it really worth it for a 2005 model car thats done almost 80,000 , and probably is worth only about £4500(ish) i keep thinking to myself the cars value isnt going to get higher so why throw a grand into it now. i might only have it another year, year and a half or so. i need good honest opinions.

Did you try Transcal in Livingston? 01506440111

Unless you are keeping it for quite a while or the current seats are knackered I can't see the point.

Any modifications will not add much (if anything) to the resale value. It's £900 you'll never see again.

If you just want the car to feel nicer and have the money to burn I'd say yes. Otherwise, no.

^^^^ exactly that!

No!

I hated my leathers! Cold in the winter, way too hot in the summer, and not as grippy as fabric.

Mine were too, but they were horrid in winter! Maybe leather bolsters and alcantara inserts would be better, and more unique too?

I'd spend the money on a bigger turbo personally, or put it into your next car. :)

Your interior will have a retained value though, Swap with a standard interior with cash your way when it comes time to chop it in!

As long as the buyer has the same taste, And likes the style you've chosen, Whatever you choose!

Last thing I heard, They'll relieve you of £1200-£1300 for a retrim!

I personally wouldnt waste your money I think leather seats are over rated.

Nice as an option on a new car but on a 7 - 8 year old car paying out £1000 on a retrim is silly if you ask me :)

i understand this, i would be going for black with black inserts and white stitching with vrs logos. classic but the nicest imo. i have the money for it i just dont know if i want to put it out on seats for a car of its age, i understand i could probably get £600 back for them and someones seats come re-sell time which imo i would do but i dno how much guarentee i can get of a re-sell at the time.

i think so too, but at the same time i could re-sell the seats for maybe £550-£600 which isnt a bad loss then

Thats true mate. You got £1000 to spend?

I got a bargain vRS with a few cosmetic issues in September 2010.

This is how I justified it...

The seats were a bit worn with some stubborn stains. Therefore a leather interior would add a bit to the value and make it easier to sell when the time came.

I intended to keep the car for a while

I knew I could split the old trim up and sell on here (I got almost £200 for it).

IMO it is definatley worth it, makes me smile every time I get in the car. Passengers are always saying how nice the seats are.

But £912 is pretty steep.

If you have a grand to throw at them then yes, you can swap or sell separately when selling the car. However personally if it was me I'd not waste my money! 1grand is a lot of money and like others have said you will not see the money again! :(

It all depends on your personal and financial circumstances.

see personally im not that bothered, i know it would be a nice addition, but im looking at it as, it could be £1000 towards my next car or whatever....not keeping the vRS forever afterall, if i had the money last year when i got it i would have seen more of a point but right now if i only have it a year or even a year and a bit its not that long to have the leathers. could jkust spend £40-£60 on a good interior valet and bring the original seats back to there glory?

I have done this and purchased some really nice skoda seat covers in black :) less than £100 all in and im happy with the interior.

think i may just do that instead, if the car was newer, or i knew i was going to be keeping it for years then i see the point but now i think its clear that i would literally be throwing money away.

After a year you could re-sell the seats to another Vrs owner in a seat swop +cash

If I get rid of my Octavia thats what I'll be doing. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

I voted yes, because if it was me I'd definitely do it.

But at the same time, if you're not planning on keeping the car too long....

I'm getting mine done because I can't see myself selling anytime soon. And I already have money put aside from selling the existing leathers I had, so in that respect I'm only dropping a few hundred. If I was paying the full whack i may have re-considered.

Also, You'll have no trouble selling them on when you come to sell, to give you an idea I sold my two tone leathers in less than a day. And had around 4 serious buyers.

im not planning on selling the car anytime soon , how much did you sell your leathers for if you dont mind me asking?

£650 for just the seats.

I kept the door cards for when I got the retrim, but getting them retrimmed as well now! I reckon You could get another £100-150 for the door cards on top.

I got mine done in June and I love them. Really impressed. I'm keeping the car for at least a further 3 years and it just added a touch of class to the interior. I spend 2 and a half to 3 hours a time when I'm driving so that's how I justified it.

You know what, I'm gonna go for it, emailed paul at seat surgeons to let him know. Once it's done it's done, like I said I'm planning on keeping the car for the foreseeable

Future anyways so may aswell enjoy it.

Wahoo!

Lost of photo`s please!! lol, If your keeping it for a few years then it`s worth it IMO.
