My Greenline II cost me just over £100 at 9,600 miles... at a main dealer in London.

THey usually go (aprox amounts) £100 - £200 - £100, so it depends which one you just had. The big or small?

It's about right for the two yearly one, but not the in between smaller service. (IMO)

hi you can use any garage you want as long as they are vat registered then your warranty will be ok thats the law. but you cannot service car your self.

Big or small? Oil change and brake check ? Standard 10 k service I think, sounds as if I've just taken up the back doors emoticon-0145-shake.gif

Which service from new?

1st?

2nd?

3rd?

2nd = OK, 1st or 3rd = shafted.

From what you are saying I think it's the first service. As I said, just over £100 for my GL2 from Preston Motors in London.

agree with above, I paid £87 for my 10k service, and £150 for my 20k service... oil's a little cheaper for the vRS though...

1ST bastaresds I will not use them again, the 1.4 tdi is out of warranty so did it myself, the crtdi 1.6 was 1st service only 4k on the clock, it hurts being ripped as I've spent 35 k there over the last 5 years will not use again ever, I will buy the parts of the web and mate can sort it out ! emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

Yes, as a known customer that is out of order really. (not good for anyone though)

If there was any work needed on the brakes it should have been under warranty IMO, not chargable. I had a clicking on mine and they were looked at FREE.

I think they've bumped up that bill a bit there.

I knew I shouldn't have gone there!, live n learn eh, there bound to contact me I was a bit pi$$€d voices raised n all that, I think they weren't happy when I told them I would be servicing the 1.4 tdi, defiantly won't take it there again only if any issues with warranty though, I might be getting rid though not too sure yet, Kia or a Hyundai they seem just ask good as skoda and better equipment

Rear drum brake inspection and clean is an additional item, needs customer say so first.

All they said was sign here for ok to do the 10k service !!

if theyve charged you for work not agreed then thats out of order, they HAVE to ask from what ive been told. you could complain and try get some money back but once paid thats always difficult

also you could ring and ask how much for a 1st service, get a mate if they know ur voice, just to see what they quote

Getting a friend to ring would be a good idea just to see what they say. Some places I know would pick prices seemingly out of the air and all depended on their mood. Chalk it up as on for experience and one to avoid in the future

£120 for my first variable service on my VRS.

Looks like you got ripped. Brakes shouldn't need looking at after 1 year and 4k.

Go back and complain....state you never asked for brakes to be looked at, only a 10k service as per book.

Did you not get a price before hand?

I went there thinking oil change and general look , 1st service but. Cleaning the brakes ? Never mind will take my business elsewhere next time emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Hi Seb, sounds a bit high and I agree with most of what the guys are saying. I paid £76 for my first (10k) service. It's hardly any different to my car regarding that. Second service cost me £193. 3rd service was about £239 due to me asking for the rear drums to come off and a brake fluid change to be done. It wasn't changed on the second service due to the fact the car had done very few miles and they said it tested ok and would be alright to leave until next time. I don't service my own motors these days, or rarely. I do all my own motorcycle work though as two wheelers are my world now in one way or another.

I think a little chat to them is called for as I think there is a mistake here. They need to explain themselves in my book.

Edit: just checked my invoice and that £239 for the 3rd service also covered a full air con service. That's pretty good value.

So the brakes should not have been looked at during first service?

So the brakes should not have been looked at during first service?

No.

Not unless you asked them too or they saw a fault and then advised you if it was OK to look at if adding to the bill.

Mine were fine at 9,600 miles and are still A-OK at 17,000 miles.

If it needed it, it would have been warranty work IMO. Otherwise you'd be taking the car in to have the brakes cleaned and adjusted twice as often as you'd be servicing it !?!?!?!

Just been at the dealers and they've said they have to take wheels and check brakes at every service this is what skoda have said the dealers now have to do emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

4000 miles in one year , you get about lol, not had my 10000 mile service yet 7000 on the clock so far

Yes you've been well and truly screwed. I paid £100 for a first service on a 1.9 TDI with 10,000 miles on the clock a couple of years ago and I thought that was expensive for what work was done. My tack is to ring round a few franchised and independant garages first to get a feel for prices then contact the garage where you want to have the car serviced and tell them the prices you have been quoted. Ask them to match or better the best price. Works every time for me - they can only say no.

I would definately go back to the garage and ask for a full breakdown of your bill and an explanation of why it cost so much. I also agree that you should get someone (or maybe 2 or 3 different people) to ring up and ask them for a price for this service and, assuming it is much cheaper, quote them this when you go back. If you manage to get a reduction, take the moral high ground and ask for more as a goodwill gesture. You have to be as cheeky as they are and protect your interests as best you can. This kind of thing simply damages the reputation of garages (if it can be damaged any more than it already is as far as some of them are concerned) and just isn't on. Best of luck and let us know how you get on.

2 fabias , 1 for work 8,000 k a year on that one 1.4 tdi and the new one 1.6 crtdi 105 is a Sunday car, bit silly really but I have a store on eBay so lots of parcels, so wifey takes em when I'm in work, however I only work 7 or 8 days a month, I've contacted them already and they say wheels have to come off every single service memo from skoda office, I think that's hogwash but it's done now but I will never go back there oh and this is the postcode LL55 6LZ

The Skoda website doesn't list any dealers at that postcode.

I have to say, you are easier to fob off than I'd have expected from your posts.

Basically they've given you a load off bull having taken £100 off you they shouldn't have done and your answer is to let them carry on like that. I thought you'd have been down there with your M16 or AK47. ;)

emoticon-0136-giggle.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gif Aye out of ammo, can't believe it , " god I sound like victor", I've had a terrible Christmas and cannot be bothered, loyalty is in short supply, I will leave it for a while and see if they contact me dealers postcode is LL55 4YY , so is there a top 10 pole for the best dealers in the UK ? Might be handy, thing is I've got the terrier syndrome , small but noisy LOL emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

I am in North Wales a lot and considered looking at Pants and decided not to :)

For my first service Slaters in Abergele quoted £160 and a price match, a local small dealer quoted £260 and Rob Eard also local quoted £112.80.

Itemised bill and no removal of wheels.
