I am in North Wales a lot and considered looking at Pants and decided not to :)

For my first service Slaters in Abergele quoted £160 and a price match, a local small dealer quoted £260 and Rob Eard also local quoted £112.80.

Itemised bill and no removal of wheels.

Thanks dempsek Abergele I thought emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Sounds very expensive to me! My first dealer service at 10k miles cost £96 all inc and that was on a 1.8TSi yeti!

Sounds like they've taken a lot more off you than they should have! Have you not bought a couple of cars from them?

I'd be demanding some money back or a free service, don't just put up with it!!

I've tried but all I'm getting is its what skoda have told us to do at every service, remove all four wheels and check, how can I refute this?, all I can think of doing is contact another dealer to find out what they do !, any dealers here that can shine a light?, isn't Allams skoda a dealer here? I reckon I've been overcharged at least £60/£70 but if is their service schedule what can I do other than say I will be going elsewhere from now on, will another dealer sort any issues relating to warranty, or will he tell me to go to the original dealer to sort out issues, or will he welcome me with open arms ?

£206.59 total including £102.00, ex VAT presumably, for labour !!!! :o

I'm guessing you did not ask for a quote or even estimate first?

Mine is due for the first service in March although by then the mileage will probably be just over 7000.

I was going to let the dealer do it and expected oil, filter, labour and VAT would be about £150 but certainly not over £200.

I have a local garage who used to be the SEAT dealer but are now independent who were very reasonable when the MAF sensor went on my Audi 1.9TDi PD. I guess they would only charge about £100 total.

Definitely call a couple of dealers tomorrow, just ask what sort of price they would charge for the service. If there is a major difference you have a bit of ammo when going back to the dealer that did the service.

Any dealer will sort the warranty work, they get paid by Skoda UK to do it some it's no skin off their nose if you bought a car from them or not.

Just wouldn't want you to be screwed over mate

Hi Seb, I am very sorry to hear about this painful wallet-emptying experience.

My 1st service I was overcharged but had been quoted. As I didn’t have the quote in writing it took Skoda UK’s involvement to sort it out, and that only resulted in a credit issued against a future service, not a refund. The dealer said they had done an annual service instead of a 10k service as I only had 8k on, and this was why it was more. Go figure.

Incidentally my service was done 10 weeks ago and the wheels were most certainly not removed then as they were fused on solid and were complete AARRGGGHH to get off to fit my winter wheels in December.

Why don’t you start a Brisky petition for the dealer. I’d sign it. I think you have a few supporters on here on the quiet, despite your frequent provocative literary fishing expeditions about our "chocolate" DSG gearboxes!

Email them a link to this thread. :giggle:

My second service, which included the brake fluid change, was about £215. I thought I was robbed, it definately sounds expensive for a first service, unless you signed to do a few extra things, which shouldn't be needed on a first service.

Aye I've contacted another dealer regarding taking my servicing over, however as long as the garage or mechanic is VAT registered its OK so my mate is a freelance mechanic VAG trained , I may ask him and he won't rip me off emoticon-0103-cool.gif
