215 to 205/17/40

Featured Replies

At the min on my fabia I have black T/D pro race 1.2 in black, looks very nice but the tires make it look look like a 4x4. The are 215/17/45 now I want to lower it on springs to start with and also get some 205/17/40 at the same time.... These tires will fit straight onto my wheel?

Yes these tyres will fit straight on but there may be a very slight tyre stretch. Which is good as it makes the handleing better with some strech and lower pros however you will need to keep and eye on the tyre pressures.

and it'll obviously compromise the ride quality a bit being smaller sidewalls. . .

i run 205/40/17s on 7.5j rims . . .that has a slight bit of stretch. . but nothing id be worried about.

Other option is running 215/40/17. I do on my 7.5J wide rims, which suits them best IMO.

215 width will give you a bit more protection against kerbing and chipping, espechially on 7.5j width rims.

Well with the 215/45 its rubbed away a little bit of the arch... so i was thinking 205 would bring the width in a little and obversely the 40 would give more room. Its just on the inside front wheel arch it rubbed when first fitted.

Could i still lower with 215/40,

The standard size wheels are 205/45/16 on a fabia. If you go up a size on the wheel, you go down a size on the profile. So 17`s on a fabia should really have a 40 profile to keep the total circumference as close as possible.

Most people find when they try 45`s on 17`s they rub even standard hight where as using 40`s you can deck them pretty much with no rubbing, even with 215`s.

Arh tar very much

As said 205/40/17 is the correct size for the Fabia to keep the ratios pretty much the same as the standard 16s, meaning your speedo is correct still :)
