Coilovers

Featured Replies

Simple questions, is anyone running coilovers on the octavia and good or bad makes used?

Looking to get some the end of the month so any info would be great

I am. I got FK Highsport and the ride is great, even very low. But be awere, there is only FK and H&R that will get you down to "right" hight. :) others just dont get low enough..

Weitec GT coilovers here, had them on for about 40k miles so far..

What's your budget and what are you aiming to achieve? Road, track, firm, comfort, big/small drop etc?

Others on the forum also have AP, KW, H&R, fk, vmaxx and prob some others I've forgotten :)

Thanks for the info been looking at FK.

The car is used daily but I want it lower and with different rims so want something that i can get a nice low car with but also something thats not to bad on a daily basis.

im running with jom coilovers the cars dropped 80mm and still more threads to go. the ride is a bit ruff but ive also got 30 profile tyres which wont help. i wanted to have the car low and handeling better and i wasnt dissapointed theres little roll when cornering hard. ive had the kit on for 5-6 months and i dont have a bad thing to say about them.

I do 30k miles a year or therabouts and the weitecs are fine for me - a bit firmer than stock but not harsh (rides better than SWMBO's R56 Mini Cooper on RF 17"s) currently set at -35mm as per the pic. I've had it lower but TBH for daily use its just about as low as you can really get away with on a vRS, no scraping on speed bumps etc as long as you are careful. Any lower and it would be grounding all the time even if you're being really careful - especially once you put some people in it or fill the boot.

The weitecs are galvanised which offers some more corrosion protection than some of the cheaper (painted) kits but are significantly cheaper than a set of stainless units. A good compromise in other words.

If you follow the links in my sig there are some pics of the car at -45mm and a link to my blog which has some more stuff on suspension.

A lot will be down to the budget you have.

Budget no idea as not really starting looking for them that hard so unsure of prices.

Anyone got a decent link to some weitecs?

Any pics of that? At 80mm you will start with small driveshaft issues. I am almost 90mm down, and the driveshaft rubs here and there so that stops me from lower more. And based on Internett experience people have a way of say they are much lower than they are..

IIRC the "before" pics of this car looked like it was on stilts (rough road package maybe?) plus it's not a vRS so it's not really comparable to your mental drop.

:p
