Blackpool illuminations - HELP !

Featured Replies

Octavia II TDI

Symptoms:

Airbag warning light permanently on. ABS light on. Traction control light on. Handbrake light on. sporadic audible power steering alarm sounding. power steering light on. Oil light on. Speedo, tacho, temp gauge - sporadic function only (off & on) Indicator arrows not lighting on dash (indicators flashing outside) Dash not illuminated but lights on.

Worst of all - Bloody engine will only start now & again.

Could be coincidence but 3 weeks ago I had a towbar fitted with 7 pin trailer wiring, fitted professionally by Honeyfield trailers.

They fitted all relays / fuses and tested out OK. Was fine for 2 weeks, then I had the 1st problem with the power steering light & alarm. Since then things have got drastically worse. This may be pure coincidence of course.

Am in Bristol if anyone can help.

Thanks

who fitted it? Sounds like they messed up.

Sounds like the terminal 15 relay (plugged into the onboard power supply control unit) is faulty, or it or the power to it has been disturbed. It could be as simple as a loose battery connection.

I had a similar problem, my alternator went, is it hard to steer and break?? if so it could be that

Steering & brakes fine. All alarms seem false, but am concerned over difficulty starting.

cheers

Mine did something like that when the battery ran down and wouldn't start - gave it a good charge with a battery charger and it was fine afterwards
