Delaying registration

Featured Replies

My new Yeti is turning up way ahead of original schedule - good news- but I want to delay registration till the "12" reg are out on 1st March.

However dealer and SKODA customer services say this cant be done - must be registered within 10 days of landing with dealer.

Anyone had this problem and persuaded SKODA to change their mind - we are probably only talking about 2/3 weeks ?

When I ordered my car I was told the 10 day rule so unless you had something in writing from them about it being a 12 plate you probably won't manage it. Worth a go trying to get them to come round though. I was however told that the build weeks can slip back right so it may be a case that it falls into place anyway.

I'm waiting 5 weeks for mine with no issues.

I told the dealer I wouldn't accept the car unless it was a 12 plate and they are happy to oblige.

I had the exact same problem last year. I had a good look into the matter. There is no LEGAL reason why you cannot delay registration and this is purely a Skoda policy issue.

I simply declined to receive the car if it was not registerd when I (the customer) wanted. Skoda agreed and I was happy.

Stand your ground. Good luck.

Thanks for the mixed comments -1st level SKODA customer services were adamant on the 10 day rule.

Anyone got contact details higher up the chain ?

Originally build week 13, then changed to week 1.

not sure you can if bought on a deal like 0%

No deals available on Yetis !

But I agree the policy would be more reasonable for cars bought on a deal.

Not too sure but did they tell you week 13 before you signed the paperwork?

If so then you agreed to take delivery on week 13 therefore making it a 12 plate and thats what you want.

My Fabia landed early Mid-Jan, Picked it up on March 1st on the new plate :)

I have a car on order and being built week 3. Order form signed by me and dealer clearly states Date of Registration as 1 March 2012 and Delivery date as Early March.

I've taken the 0% VAT 0% finance offer and no mention of any "10 day rule" when I placed the order, but some cars do seem to be coming ahead of schedule now so I've contacted my dealer to confirm that I do not wish to have the car registered before 1 March even if available for delivery prior to this date.

Mine too..No problem at all

I was told it was being delivered mid Feb..It came Mid Jan

I asked them to hold it till March 1st..This they did

Just tell your dealer unless they delay the registration then you'll not be accepting the car.

Thats all I did and they soon fell into line.

Have sent an email but no reply yet and delivery receipt says "deleted without being read" - maybe just their email server setup and it has been forwarded downwards will have to wait a few more days and see.

Be a shame if it turned up early and you were away on holdiay, which you'd told them was why you wanted it when you did.

They'd have to wait for you to come back before they could register it wouldn't they?

Dealer phoned this evening to say "Yeti had arrived....understood I wanted to delay registration till 1st March .. they really needed paying for it before then was this a problem ( no it isnt) and they would schedule fitting of dealer options and let me know when they have their list of allocated registrations for 1st March..."

So in the end no problems .

Did Skoda change their policy or what I wonder ..........
