Finally, time has come for me to change my suspension. Knowing that the car is a Octavia Elegance 1.8T (150HP, FWD) and that the roads are in pretty bad condition, i was thinking of a 30-35 lowering and a suspension that best combines ride comfort with sportivity. The budget is 600E. Please recommend me a fixed height suspension that u think will best suit my needs !

Theese are the main suspension kits that i can find in my country. If u've tested some of them, please try also to specify how much stiffer are they than the stock suspension ( in percents) ! Thanx !

I voted for eibach pro-kit, dampers too though. Although mine are soon to be whipped off in favour of some coilovers.

OK, thanx. Also bear in mind that i have 235/45/17 in the back and with a huge 8cm wheel gap i still got a lot of rubbing when the car is fully loaded (5 ppl + luggages). Is the Pro-System stiff enough to compensate this problem even after the 30mm drop ? Also, i know taht a coilover would be stiffer than the pro-system but how do the coilover stand against suspension kits in terms of reliability ?

Devon, can u also please say how much stiffer is the pro-system than the stock 1.8T suspension ( not the Vrs wich is a little stiffer than normal 1.8T)

I voted for Eibachs too. As no one seems to know the approx stiffness of theese suspensions comparing to stock and to each other, my last question would be if u think the Pro-System is stiff enough to prevent rubbing under full load with the already specified tires.

Kw's every time in my opinion but bear in mind some of their cheaper ones are actually Konis with a KW sticker on, dont know if the Koni would be cheaper.

If the roads are as bad as you say a sump guard might be an idea, a lot of people over here have cracked sumps after lowering

URGENT ADVICE : I have the opportunity of purchasing the coilovers from Eibach, Pro-Street, for only 100E more than the Pro-System but i gotta move quick. Do u think it's worth 750E for the Pro-Street comparing to 640E for the Pro-System ???

Here (NL), the yellow Konis are 200 euros cheaper than KW V2, including installation. Don't know if the dampers are actually the same. They are equally priced to V1, though.

EDIT: my yellow Koni price was for Koni's sports dampers only, which makes KW the cheaper option, as they are full coilovers.

Oh, I don't think that an extra 110 euros is that much for coilovers instead of mere springs. The standard dampers have been known to go very quickly when mated to sports springs, so I would say it's an easy choice - the coilovers.

Thanx ! Any other opinions ? From what i've seen on the net, the prices for the Pro-Street goes between 1200 and 1600$. This is a lot more than the 750E !!! While the Pro-System can be purchased for a price that stays in the normal range, the pro-street is a bargain > 750E = 1030$ (in my country) !

I'll put this here, as sadly bengie's 4x4 suspension thread is in the myPerformance archives. :(

Finally made the change to yellow Konis today. It was the sensible choice after going the wrong way with just the lowering springs (which my boss understandably doesn't want to see ditched after just two years, expensive as they were), so I had to pick a set of matching dampers. The dealer's done a few more with Koni/MAD so he knows his stuff there, and I can still adapt them to Mrs D's liking once she becomes the car's rightful owner sometime next year, which gave the Konis the nod over similarly priced unadjustable Billies.

Anyway, on first feel they are great, but then I'm comparing with the original dampers which were well and truly shot by now... :D
