Glow Plugs for Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Morning All

Having read a bit on glow plugs and my vagcom coming up saying I had an issue with one (17057 - Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Circuit (Q12): Electrical Fault)I've decided to the plunge and get the four of them done. I've heard that these ones ( http://www.ngkpartfinder.co.uk/car_commercial_extra.php?id=5058) are the ones to go for. They will come in at around £35 for a set of four but as anyone got any experience with these or alteratives. I've put spark plugs in myself in teh pas however I may ask teh garage to slip these in as part of teh service.

Appreciate any help or assistance with this one.

One of mine failed last winter, I replace them with NGK plugs. Dead easy to replace but don't over tighten them, you will also need a long socket.

Did you use a torque wrench or just put them in? I've just read a few places you need to set something but if its a simple job I may have a go meself.

I got mine (oem) from vwspares and fitted them in 10 mins,

I'd advise to un-tighten them slowly to begin with incase they decide to snap especially if they are still factory ones, also a little smear of copper grease on the splines of the new ones wouldn't do any harm to make it easier in future if they need changing again.

Yes I used a torque wrench, the torque setting is surprising very low (10-20Nm off the top of my head).
