ECU remap

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am considering having an eco map done on my ECU, just wondering whether anyone else has had this done and what the effects were?

I have been told that it will take my BHP figure up from 180 to 210(ish)bhp and it will make it about 15% more economical on fuel.

reckon it is worth it?

Silly question really.... The only answer is yes

Type "remap" into the search then be prepared to spend a few days reading through the 1000s of threads lol

Search function for the win mate

But the remap is the best thing to get for the octy. Makes it so much better.

Loads of choice I have a stage 1 Shark map on mine and it's fantastic !

Not too sure about the saving on fuel but certainly the power increase is worth it..

Cheers for the replies, I was planning to get the remap done this weekend but the person that was going to do it never got back to me :-(

Just done a google search and emailed a few more companies to see what they can do for me so fingers crossed!

if its a good map, pound for pound you cant beat remapping for cheap power gains

15% more economic......i vey much doubt it!

its easy to drive faster using the extra power and losing extra economy!

And dont forget to tell your insurance co. ;)

Really? The guy that does the mapping told me it is an "Invisible" upgrade so no need to tell the insurers... he said that they will name the software the same as the standard one in the ECU :-/

That's kinda not the point!

So is it best to notify the insurers anyway?

Insurers will do anything to avoid paying out, if you have an accident what's not to say they won't go over the car with a fine toothed comb. Even if the map isn't obvious the change in fueling and boost pressure will be. Most reputable remappers now advise you to inform your insurance anyway.

no map is invisible if it says it its a lie, however if you have a unit like sharks STS you can get away as you can remove map at any time

No map is undetectable even if you use the sts!!!!

Insurance companys know this and will exploit it!!!

Ask yourself this would you drive a car with no insurance??? If no then you answers yourself!!

I've always wondered... If your car was mapped but the information wasn't passed on so you where completely ignorant to the fact and if you crashed and a map shows up, which you haven't declared. Where do you stand?

I suppose if it went to court the onus would be on you to contact the previous owner and get proof from them that they remapped it (receipt etc) and then plead ignorance to knowing about the map yourself. If you're buying a car though you generally test drive more than one so should be able to spot a remapped one from a standard one?

One of the guys at the first RR day I went to had bought an Octy VRS estate the week before and was shocked to discover when they put it on the RR it was remapped (by the place where the RR was!). He had no idea.. and it was running really poorly as well :(
