Skoda Fabia - Radio Signal Poor after Bad Weather

Featured Replies

After the storms which battered GB the reception on my radio has been terrible. I have been told that my Skoda Fabia 2001 has an Aerial Amplifier and this may have been damaged due to water ingress. Does anyone know the location of this amplifier or anything else that may have caused it?

The amplifier is in the base of the aerial inside the car, if I remember right? They can indeed get water in them, and I've seen pictures of very badly corroded bases which obviously have reduced reception.

New aerials dont cost much from main dealer - on my seat ibiza mk4 it was £16 delivered from seat themselves

That was base + aerial

sO HOW DO i FIX THIS ON MY 2001 FABIA. HAVE I GOT TO GET A NEW AMPLIFIED BASE?

If they're only £16, I'd start there, yeah. The corrosion is fairly commonplace as far as I know, you could try and find one in a scrapyard but you're not likely to save much on £16 by the time you've done the legwork and running around, and it'll have been exposed to the elements and might not be any better than what you have...

Make sure that is your car and not the local transmitter, some of them may have got damaged in the winds.

Changed my aerial today working perfect. £16 from main dealer 2 mins to change over.

Was it just the bee sting aerial you screwed off or did you change the base as well. Which Dealer did you use?

Changed the whole base + aerial - 2 mins to - this was on my seat but all the same

1 Large nut under the roof lining - unclip wire done

I used David @ sere - seat dealer based in ireland

So how easy is it do you have to remove the head lining, how do you do this and does it go back in easy.
