  • I've taken the plunge & bought the Superskoda boot & front door safety lights. I don't know why i hesitated about the boot light. It truly is a fantastic improvement, far better than even the

This one from SuperSkoda by any chance.

It's been mentioned on here before, but it's good to know that people are still impressed. I'm just put off by the postage!

I think many of us already have that very worthwhile mod!

Yes that is the one!

It's the first time I have ordered from abroad so I was a bit on edge wondering if it would ever get here, but it did 6days later.

Postage was included in the price, 24 euro probably works out at £20 + overseas transaction fee I paid it via PayPal.

Just checked my card statement and its £20.57 no mention of a fee :) not sure if they add it to next months bill but I can't see it being much.

Or for 91p (posted) you can replace the std w5w bulb for one of these LED's dramatic improvement over the std bulbs (they also fit the footwell lights as well)

Footwell lights, I don't have these?

They are a Superb item-Gizmo has a rather splendid one!

Do you just take the old bulb out and fit the new one in???

Dumb question I know, but there was a thread sometime back that required you to do some 'rewiring', and I don't want to have to do that.

Yes, no rewiring necessary.

If replacing just the bulb then the metal casing around the light needs to be removed to give you access to the bulb - this just prises off

This is the best mod I've done to my Yeti by a country mile. Škoda should fit a light like this as standard as the factory fitted one is utterly useless.

By the way you cannot ever have foot lights on a Yeti as inexplicably the Yeti is wired differently to the Octavia and Superb in that the part of the computer where you connect these to is in fact the reverse lights! Someone tried this and everytime they opened the door both the footwell lights AND the reverse lights came on! :giggle:

Never a dumb question, If you don't know the answer then ask someone who does!

It comes as a fully complete lamp unit. Just pry out the existing lamp and unplug the connector then connect the plug to the new lamp unit and press it back into the hole. and it works a real blinder (Dont look at it!) :)

Shame about the footwell lights, Golf MK6 has adjustable one's through the MD, really nice feature.

So does the Superb (this needs activating with VCDS for them to come on whenever the lights are on though)

Pardon my ignorance, but why do you need lights to see where your feet are?

Aren't they on the end of your legs, like everyone elses?

Peter,

Well I don't know what you do with your feet, but as a "man of the world" I'm not sure I want to know!!

For the minute extra cost (if any) isn't it about time Skoda upgraded the Boot light in their model year or

other programmed changes.

They obviously don't take any notice to this forum as a number of minor improvements have been suggested

on here which haven't seen the light of day.

It's called 'Continuous Improvement' ...that thing the Far Eastern folks are good at.

But how do you know that once the stock of this light, which they probably have a suppliers contract for, plus is probably used elsewhere in the VAG range, runs out they won't be replacing it?

It must happen all the time in the real world and stocks arn't always high...they could maybe just change the bulb.

If they need years to fix it... gord blimey...its been recognised as a problem for ages on this forum.

4200 Yeti forum topics and 60000 replies ..what wonderful 'free' customer feedback to Skoda so things like this are followed through in a timely fashion.

I suspect part holdings aren't that high, as I'm sure they work to JIT supply, as do most car factories. But VAG may well have a contract to one supplier to provide that part, and unless they are like Tesco's (Which I doubt) that won't renague on that contract in mid-stream.

Yes but the overhead white LED's match the footwell LED's and the doorhandle LED's quite well IMO.

OOPS sorry, does the Yeti have doorhandle LED's??

:giggle: don't expect more or better specced Skoda's, if VAG have their way they will all be base spec models and all the options will be a cost extra. (got to give the rest of the VAG group a chance now haven't we??

Paypal have never charged me for changing currency. It's included in their rate

A cheap way of getting footwell lights. and one from the Audi Forum
