Boot light

Featured Replies

As I understand it, all interior lights is not monitored by a power unit/can-bus self diagnostics system. But it is very easy to find out if you need CAN-BUS error free LED light. Just unplug the light, and start the car.

Why do SuperSkoda supply a complete plugin unit rather than just an LED luminaire for fitting in the existing lamp unit? Same goes for the LED dome lights they are developing for either side of the rear seats. I'm guessing they are modifying or cloning the OEM versions, so there is substantial additional cost compared with just inserting an LED into the existing lamp. I can only assume that there's some extra electronics in their version.

Superskoda LED trunk/boot is one unit, and you cannot change the internal LED lights. The one from Superskoda fits AUDI, VW, Seat, Skoda and Lambogini (so it is says on the box, which I unfortunately do not have on me right now)

They are VERY bright white compared to a normal W5W.

Here is a photo from my Roomster with Supserskoda LED in the trunk.

Sorry, my car is a Roomster.

I only replied because of the same LED light from superskoda.

You are right, that is a Roomster. Edited my post :-)

Interesting, my 88p EBay LED is now reinstalled & is working fine, though only about 50% brighter than the original incandescent 5w bulb. No flickering EXCEPT when I leave the tailgate open. Then, when it switches itself off after 10 mins (or so)then yes, it does seem to do a high frequency flicker. Shut the tailgate & it's fine. There must be some feedback when the lid is open. Strange but true! Isn't electrickery marvelous!!!

Okay, is the label.

The Super Skoda advert says the new boot light is simple to fit are they right?.

Yes. You take old one out, unplug it, plug new one in and put it back. Some people have had to make the hole a few tiny millimetres bigger but it really is VERY easy.

Yes, very easy. Use a flat small screwdriver and take it out. Just take it slowly and remember not to lose the wiring in the hole. It can be difficult to find it again.

I found this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-LED-Interior-Courtesy-Lights-Door-Footwell-Trunk-Lamp-Xenon-White-No-Error-/280801360692?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda&hash=item416110bb34

If I think it is the as from superskoda.

It's not clear, but that might be for two lamps, as it says in the description "In the box 2x lamp units". If so, that's good value. Mind you, I'd check first. However you only have one light in the Yeti boot, though if adventurous you could do a bit of surgery to add a second one on the other side.

I see SuperSkoda now appear to be shipping their unit 'post free' to the UK, which has effectively brought their price down to under £20.

Does anyone who has replaced the whole light unit want to get rid of the OE light(s)?

I could do with a pair of them

I've taken the plunge & bought the Superskoda boot & front door safety lights. I don't know why i hesitated about the boot light. It truly is a fantastic improvement, far better than even the photos on here show. I'd have no hesitation in recommending it.

On the other hand, whilst the red door lights are brighter than the originals, I doubt I'd bother again as they are not significantly brighter unless the doors are wide open. The diffuser seems to produce a less wide angle beam, so if the door is only partially open (first stop) then they are only as good as the originals. On the other hand, the main reason I wanted them is to reduce the load on the battery when the doors are open for some time - and they do succeed in doing this admirably. Fitting all 3 was easy, I had to take a sliver of plastic off the cut-out in the boot, but the door ones just take a good push to get them to snap into place.

Mine took just over a week.

I also have the Superskoda boot light and can confirm it's very very good. :)

Today I have just recieved in the post all the way from 'CZ' an LED lamp for the boot.

This is the best mod I've done to my Yeti by a country mile.

Just changed my boot light as the replacement LED light came this week.

My led boot light came this morning

Have replaced mine in my Roomster.

Come on you lot (and domhnall) there MUST be a couple of your old lights that are of no use to you any more, you will also get a nice warm feeling inside knowing you have helped an Audi to improve it's lighting :giggle:

I live in Denmark, and in my Roomster I only have 1 boot light.

How many "old" boot lights units do you need?

I am looking for a couple of them, didn't notice your location TBH as it would probably cost more to post them internationally than they are worth.

Mine took just over a week.

So I might get the unit by Saturday if not, next week.Depends on how fast Super Skoda get the unit in the post I suppose.

I had an email later the same day saying it was dispatched.

But then you have to rely on royal mail :giggle:

I have not had an email but, according to Super Skoda the light unit was sent out to me yetsterday morning.

As you say its down to the Royal Mail now-the mail is so slow around my way we do not get our mail until half one/two oclockish in the afternoon.
