REMOTE FOB

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just undertaken a small task that was bothering me for a few months, now.

I replaced the key fob case on my Fabia as the original one had become cracked due, I think, to someone dropping it!

I found a site on ebay that sells replacement cases for around £6, inc p+p and they also provide an email with the instructions to strip and re-build it. This is due to just being the case.. The internals are swapped from your own fob to the new one which is reasonably straight forward with reference to the diagrams. I did not even need to re-sync the remote!

The seller is on ebay and trades as key_service and they have a 99.9% positive feedback, so can be trusted!

I think they also do other types of key case as mine is the 3 button type and they may even do blades but dont quote me.

Not a question, (Was unaware there was any criteria that said it should be) :giggle: But just highlighting a service that may or may not be of interest to other forum users!

There is, in all likelyhood, a few Skoda or even VW/Seat drivers out there, who may read this and be interested in changing their own fob, due to damage sustained or looking scruffy through age.

I dithered for a while as I was unsure as to if the supplied fob would be crap or too difficult to change but it was well worth the small bit of effort needed and the relatively small cost involved.

As you may or may not know, Skoda do not supply replacement case so you may well end up paying well over a hundred beer tokens, not realising you can get a cheap, easy repair! it may even be worth it just when selling the car, to offer a new looking bit of kit, suggesting you are a careful owner. (We all know how much just a simple wash and polish can add to the salability of a car). The seller also offers replacement key blades... Again, a fairly expensive Skoda replacement, for not a lot!
