Climate control 'gone dark'

Featured Replies

The climate control unit on my wifes 52 Octavia Elegence 1.9 TDi has stopped working / gone off.

At the weekend the Climate unit lost all display and is now blowing full blast but it's not at full heat, just luke warm. The air is being directed to the windscreen and side vents but no where else.

The display is completely dead and no matter what buttons are pressed nothing happens.

Any ideas? The car has covered 130K and is used daily.

I'm guessing the head unit is needing replaced ...

I imagine its a mark 1 then, not a mark 2 octavia eh? ;) TOPIC MOVED :p

There are a couple of members selling climate units from cars being broken. I'd start with that and maybe do a scan with VCDS to see if there are any other codes (e.g. flap motors etc)

Have a look in the Car Parts For Sale section. From memory Billy2981 has one, there are a couple more on there somewhere too.

Cheers. I've checked all the fuses and they all seem fine. A couple of people have been in touch with replacement units so i guess i start there.

Is it a common thing for them to pack in?

I'll get a look tomorrow eve and be in touch, thanks for your help so far.

I have never heard of the unit failing before. I certainly don't believe it is a common fault, like say water ingress into the drivers door, pollen filter grommet, rear washer hose popping off, etc.
