Warning lights everywhere!

Featured Replies

Starting the car this morning brought an unwelcome shock - both the coolant level and oil level warning lights have come on.

My car does use a bit of oil and I have neglected to check it over the past couple of weeks so that's not a major concern (though there is no sign of a leak).

The coolant is more of a worry as I haven't seen any evidence of a leak and haven't checked it in a while.

Are there any common causes that I should be aware of? And what should I use to top the coolant up? I can't get to a Skoda dealer before it closes tonight so can I use something from Halfords instead?

Youre car will naturally use coolant over time, assuming the coolant mix in youre car is strong enough you can top it up with some water!!

Seems fairly normal to me, i had parked the car at my mum's for 2 days came back to pick it up started it and the coolant light was on it had just sneaked below minimum so topped up with some G12 coolant ever so tiny amount was needed right enough.

I check oil every weekend when it gets washed.

I wouldnt panic mate.

Just to add YES you can get a pre mixed bottle from Halfords it meets VAG spec too.

Cheers for the reply gents.

Have topped up the oil and put a little coolant in to sort the car out so all is good on that front. Typically, however, I have managed to snap off the small oranger retaining clip for the bonnet support! It is frigging cold outside and I think it may have been a little more brittle than usual but it's still annoying. How easy will it be to get a replacement? And does anyone have a part number?
