PD150 and Remap

Featured Replies

Im seriously thinking of the PD150 Garret Turbocharger and Jabba Sport Remap they do in their stage 2 package. Has anyone had this work done and is it worth the 1400 quid.

Also would the group buy intercooler kit suit this stage 2?

Tar very much

You'd be better off buying a hybrid and remap for the same price.

Or buy a second hand vb turbo and getting it mapped.

Pretty sure Unit 18 would do a Hybrid turbo and map and still be less than that

& you'd need to upgrade the clutch...

You could run a smooth 190bhp map with no issues on a stock clutch.

For the sake of an hours drive you'll pay £xxx extra :-/

Apparently they can limit the torque.

Any custom mapper can limit the torque

I will get in touch with Unit 18 also, see what the dif is

surely for the difference in price v performance you may as well just stage 1 it? unit 18 map and piper exhaust produced 178bhp

just my opinion, I weighed up the costs for mw last week

Currently I am running ITG, PD160 intake, Straight through exhaust and a tuning box 169bhp. Will soon have FMIC, next stage is uprating the turbo, plus im on 85k and want my turbo servicing.

It's simple to limit the torque in the map so no need for upgraded clutch.

it's probably more like 3 hours plus of driving and having been from Oxford to Sutton Bridge (so a little further in both directions) several times traffic can be a proper **** at both ends  but having said that, I did go to the old Unit 18 location from Oxford for everything :D

I done MK to Peterborough in a little over an hour when I collected some bits from jabba. Either way, the savings would pay for the fuel easily.

Peterborough gets you almost to Jabba :p Crowland is maybe 30 minutes(?) away. but I also went to Barnsley to pick up my manifold/turbo/etc and we drove to Star Performance (shower of ******s that they are) and back in a day to collect my brother's Octavia so it's not like I'm against a drive  deffo worth getting in touch with ali to find out how more than reasonable his prices are though

Lol to be fair my run there was mid afternoon so nice a quiet. I`m more than happy to go on a bit of a road trip though, MK to Leeds for a RC car lol. I`m lucky to have Alistair on my doorstep now, but i`d be more than happy to travel if it were further away.

Would be good if you could post links... What I can see the "basic" PD150 turbo + remap is their stage 1?

I've tried the Jabba website recently and it's.... Less obvious than before... :) Specifically, I can't see prices quoted for their PD tuning kits...

I've seen PD150 turbos on TD's website for £700 inc VAT. I think you could do it for £200-£300 cheaper at least.

Yes I ment to put 1, I made a boo boo :(

I think Jabba advertise the pd150 as an option when someone's turbo has died. So instead of buying the same new turbo, buy a better I e for the same or similar money.

If the turbo is £700, then you'll be looking at around £1150ish fitted. Or go down the hybrid 130, little more money but it'll cope with 200bhp easily.

2 minute search

1. www.google.com

2. "pd150 turbo for sale"

3. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=202542.0 (all be it the listing is a bit old but you get my drift)

4. Fit it

5. Shark performance remap

6. 195bhp (or around that, with a nice smooth power band and safe on the clutch) ;)

Turbo £350 (overpriced id say, i picked mine up for £250)

Remap £350 (around that, dont quote me as i dont know)

Fitting £100 tops

Total: £800

Saving: £600

My research charges: £FREE
