got my skud home and started trying to get it going thares no spark ive swap the entire ignition systen off a known working car ie dizzy rotar coil leads plugs still no spark ive cheaked the coil for power and thares no voltage supply any ideas? the fuse box was replaced by previous owner so i dont know if he made an A$$$e of it. cheers wee neil

:(

Which engine type?

Do you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the igiton on?

Double check that all the fuses are ok, then make sure the wiring connectors are seated in the fuse box correctly.

did you buy it as a non runner?

1600petrol. Aye It was bought as a non runner. Im hearing a weird humming noise but thares no fuel coming up to the rail as ive got the supply pipe off. Erm could sumbody post a pick of a complete fuesbox thats working cos im not sure weather the relays are correct. Cheers.

If you can eliminate the ignition switch as being faulty first, try disconnecting the wires and test it using a multimeter or similar... Then the first place I would start after that is the main supply relay, it's next to the steering column with brano written on it. It's worth getting yourself a Haynes manual because they have quite good wiring schematics in the back, this.elecrical issue you have could be simple or it could be a nightmare, it's hard to diagnose these sort of issues remotely.

Well peeps wee update. Cleaned all fusebox connections and most of engine bay conections and im getting 12vs on brown wire that goes to coil black wire is earth and next to nothing from the middle yellow wire that seams to come from the ecu, gunna check my 6n tomro and see what votages I get on that.

The yellow wire will pulse on and off at twice the speed of the engine rpm, however you probably won't be able to test this wire with a normal multimeter due to the speed at which the wire pulses from 0v to 12v because the sample/update rate of a multimeter is not high enough unless you have a decent one with a tacho counter. a test lamp or some kind of circuit test probe would be better. Or if you are feeling a bit ghetto you could just get a normal tail lamp bulb or similar and join a couple of wires up to it to test for a flash on the wire.

This wire does indeed come from the ecu, and this signal is derived from the hall effect switch in the distributor body... I would literally just connect one wire from the lamp to the yellow wire at the coil, and the other wire on the lamp to a decent chassis ground point an get somebody to crank the engine over and see if the bulb flashes.

Give this a try first and get back to us with a yay or nay, then we can figure out the next part of the system to go to from here.
