What year did the mk1 end production?

Featured Replies

As title.

The reason I ask is because I am a mk2 vrs owner, but today saw a strange site on the dual carriageway. A mk1 Octavia "classic" with a 08 reg number. It just looked strange, I thought the owner must be doing something dodgy and slapped some fake number plates on, but "askmid" says it is insured and sure enough has the right model listed, so I'm confused. Did skoda sell mk1s in 2008?

We have Mk1 Octavias running as taxis here also on 08 plates. I am as confused as you.emoticon-0124-worried.gif

As far as I am aware the MK1 vRS ended in 2005 with a 55 plate which is what I have. All other MK1 octavia ended in 2004-2005 apart from the fact that you can still get a mk1 as a taxi as they still sell them brand new in certain european countries. I am guessing the MK1 you saw was a taxi if it is an 08 plate?

2006 06 is the last plate as far as I am aware. Owned by a member on here.

Didn't have any taxi plates on or anything. But could be an ex-taxi or driver could have taken the taxi plates off. That would explain it though!

They were still sold here in Ireland until 2009, and they were called the octavia tour.

The vRS stopped productions in 2005 (although I have seen a 2006 MK1 vRS).

There's 2 mk1 classic Octavia taxis in Donny, both on 58 plates!

They also were sold in Romania until 2010 and called Octavia Tour .

I don't know about RS

They were still selling the mk1 Octavia in the UK up to 2010 I think and they still sell them abroad in places like India. They launched the "VRx" / "Octavia Tour Sport" in 2009:

Most taxi companies prefer the Mk1 Octy and as big demand was still around the production continued till 2010 on select models and specs.

The VRS stopped in 2005 though

there is a Mk1 for sale on ebay at the moment and that is on an 06 plate. obviously just hanging around and registered to late to be a 55 plate. i think this is the first i have seen registered after 55 though.

Going to the shop today in Bromborough I was shocked to see an 08 plate Mk1 estate coming in the opposite direction!!! Now that must have been hanging around for a while before being registered!!! Ah Sir here is your new car, it was built in 2004 however its sat in the carpark for the last 3/4 years!! But its an 08 plate so it must be new!

Theres quite a few 09 plated MK1 TDi,s in Bournemouth as Taxi,s.As said before they stopped production in 2010.

i think mines the last vrs ever lol its march 29th 2006 registered B) , i know they still made the taxi spec ones up till very late
