Continental Conti premium contact 2

The Sharan has them and have to say I think they're awful.

They have grip in the dry, but any cold it damp and its like driving on marbles! Handing is also horrible with an unpredictable limit doesn't make for a safe drive on country roads for me.

Not sure they're cost, but Michellins are going in once these are dead!

I had these on a 307 sw and, I found them great in the dry, OK in the wet, but they really didn't like the snow / ice.

They were also the quickest wearing set of tyres I had on that vehicle and are not ones that I would buy again.

I had them, confident on dry and ok in wet but terrible in show or ice, quite too but they don't last very long if you drive hard

Had them on three different new cars since 2006; verdict poor tyres.

First was a current shape Corsa CDTI which suffered high tyre wear at the front, replaced with Avon ZV5 due to cost (odd tyre size used by Vauxhall). Surprisingly the cheaper Avons where better in all conditions bar snow and lasted longer.

Corsa replaced by a Fabia 1.2 TSI, which is so light there's hardly any tyre wear. However they are very noisy which I think is partly due to these being W rated (the circumferential grooves appear wider than H rated fitted to Corsa and Yeti) and they have no grip unless it's warm and dry.

Also came with my Yeti which I had built at factory on non UK standard 16" alloys (17" standard on Elegance spac in UK). Again don't inspire confidence in anything other than warm and dry conditions.

Currently running winters now on both the Yeti (Hankook W310) and Fabia (Bridgestone LM30) which are much better in all respects and in the case of the Fabia much quieter (although they are 195 against 205).

Been experimenting and if I set to the pressures on the fuel flap when WARM I get some degree of handling which doesn't feel like I'm on an ice rink.

But its still not giving me enough feeling which I like. I know the Sharan is quite large etc, but I've driven stretched sprinters in snow and felt more in control and safe.

Not had performance tyres for many years, but for everyday cars I still prefer Michellin I'm afraid. The HPs can be had for less than these tyres as well!

I've had Premium Contact 2s on my Octy since the first tyre change (it came with Dunlops). They feel very planted for me in the dry and I'm happy with the wet performance too.

This year I've gone for Avon Ice Touring winter tyres for the cold months expecting similar weather to last year - until today there hadn't even been a sniff of snow.

I had Michelins on my Seat Cupra and they were awful in both the dry (terrible understeer) and wet (might as well have rolled on the alloys).

The Contact 1s on my Superb did only 17,000kms of careful driving. Not impressed.

I've got the contact 2's and don't think there too bad however I've got nothing to compare them to.

Ive got then on my mk1 fabia vrs and the fronts are wearing very quick! Putting my foot down in the wet with a remapped car results in traction control light flashing like crazy in 1st 2nd and 3rd :/

Wasn't impressed when they were OE on my Fabia vRS, wore out very quickly too

These came on my Octy, rubbish in wet, useless in snow and wore quickly. Fine in warm and dry though...

ok so after checking my tyres it turns out they out the sport contacts instead, have no idea how i got the two mixed up

Mine is at 8k and 5mm. A colleagues are at the legal limit on the fronts at 13k, 4mm on the rears.

Thread revival.

I have these Black rubber or is it recylcled LEGO Circles of pure sharn on a new SEAT in 215/60 R16.

Really Comfortable, good rim protection, and seem OK in the dry, but then how would they be anything else at NSL's.

In the damp or wet they are not really fit for purpose for getting away at junctions, roundabouts or anyplace you might give a bit of throttle as the drive wheels just lose traction.

Actually rubbish, and great care is needed with these tyres more than with any ditch finders i have previously experienced.

(just as well i drive like Miss Daisy is beside me, when she or he is.)
