can hardley hear the beep on my parking sensors any idea what could be wrong

Do you have factory fitted Skoda sensors or after market? The sounder unit should be fitted in the B pillar, so you will need to remove the trim to access it. Some of the aftermarket sounders have hi-lo settings.

Not sure about via Maxidot (not looked) but they can be adjusted via VCDS (only OE sensors)

if you have maxidot then the volume and tone can be adjusted using the menus although I am not sure where the option is on the Octavia.

If you have a prefacelift car with stream or audience headunit you can adjust the PDC volume in the headunits settings.
