Im trying to remove the drivers door lock so I can see why my drivers door handle wont open. Ive undone the two torx screw on the edge of the door and the cylinder feels loose but It just wont come out. Anyone help I need to sort my handle out as its driving me mad!

I think you need to put your key in the lock and turn it to allow the barrel to come out then you need to disconect the handle from the lock.

Ive tried the key but its still wont budge, just tried the slam the door technique I found on a passat forum and the door handle worked once! So its not a massive problem. The cylinder appears to be connected the handle side somewhere but I cant see anything to unlatch etc?

I take it you have removed the door panel and can get to the lock from the inside, the handle is connected to the door lock so you will need to remove the barrel before you can unattach the handle, on some cars there is a little spring which centralises the mechanisum so the handle will open the door, sometimes these break.

Might pay to list exactly what you have done so far i.e removed door panel/lock ect.

I have not removed the door card, I was looking at the wrong model car B5 and follwing a guide on another forum. Looks like I need to remove the door card and take it from there.

Have a look at the side of the door just above the lock, there may be a screw which you will need to turn anti clockwise to release the door handle and be able to drop the door lock out.
