which engine

Featured Replies

I am just wondering, dumb as it sounds,

how i identify which engine moel i have in my octy?

all i know is that there are a couple of different 1.9 diesel engines,

but i dont know which is in my car... only bought it on friday,

liked it so much on the test drive i wasnt really bothered about the exact spec.

im pretty certain i read theres a 90 and 110 brake 1.9tdi engine for it?

so... how do i know which is in mine?

2004 1.9 tdi ambiente.. help?

thanks guys :-)

Look on the back. Red 'i', 110bhp. Red 'di', 130bhp. No red in the tdi badge, 90bhp.

Engine code is on your log book, in the front cover of the service book or on the sticker on the boot floor.

Something along the lines of ASV, AHF

It'll most likely a 90bhp.

So ive had a look, and yep, tis the Tdi all black, so 90 brake.

my first round trip drive of about 20 miles, 50 mph outbound and 60mph return,

goin by the avg mpg computer,i was gettin 70mpg!

How accurate are the computers?!

(Easily known im a newbie)

Mine is out by about 2-4 mpg. Mine is the 110bhp and I often get 60mpg plus so yours sounds about right.

Cheers mdon,

assuming the same error, on mine, it's about a 30-40% reduction on fuel from my old car.

Plus the saving on where i can get my diesel at a discount compared to the petrol i was on,

saving about 8-10 cent per litre..

I'll have saved enough in fuel costs to pay the increased road tax switching to the bigger engine!

Sah Weet!
