Octavia Estate Spoiler Brake light

Featured Replies

This evening after collecting a new car for the wife I followed her home, she driving the Octavia. I noticed the spoiler brake light led's are all gone bar three.

Now where do I get bulbs/unit? Can the bulbs be changed or is it a whole new unit?

Thanks in advance

Mike

The hole led break light has to be changed, the interior plastics have to be taken out to untighten the plastic bolts.

Had mine also replaced under warranty, condensation inside. New one 100% OK

As above, it's a sealed unit and the LED's are not replaceable so it's a complete new assembly.

The plastic interior trim pops off to reveal the back of the light unit.

Given the usual claims about how long LEDs are supposed to last, I'd be interested to know why they've gone in the first place.

£36 pound for the unit.

In this case it might be down to water ingress as mentioned elsewhere but the primary reason for LED failure is invariably poor voltage / current regulation. People think you can sling an LED into any application and it will have a long life. This is not the case and LED's are far more picky about voltages than traditional (old) light sources.
