Anyone running 255 35 tyres on 18" rims?

Featured Replies

Bugger!

Are there any tyres out there that have a rubbing strip/band like the original Dunlop SP Sports?

I'd imagine so? But I'm no tyre guru. :)

I'm thinking Octavia = bigger car = more room?

Yeah, that's my thought too. JonnyC got away with the tyre to pillar distance (just) and I think there is more room under an Octavias arches.

The 255 35 18 is almost identical rolling circumference to OEM but an 8.5" rim is the minimum and probably an ET45 offset.

Has anybody used This link for this.

I want wider tyres for at least protecting the wheel rims.

Hang on, there's another link on here that states what tyre will fit what rim ,,,,, I'll be back!

Try this http://www.alloywhee...om/tyrecalc.asp

You do not need wider tyres , you just need some with a rim protector, I have vredstein sessantas with them, but BF Goodridge have the best ones I have seen

True. He said that you'd need (ideally) an ET50 wheel with ET48 being the minimum. Again, that's for the Golf.

The Vredsteins look good, can't find any info on the BF Goodridge except for 4X4 tyres.

I have 235/35 19 Vredestein Sessantas on my lowered Octy and have no rubbing issues, they are good tyres too (although to be fair I don't reallt take them to their limits).
