Hi, does anybody know what size torx key is nedded to remove the rails that the seats fit onto? all help appreciated ta

wonna remove seats + rails to remove carpet completely to get to the bottom of the bloody water leak somewhere

it was parked facing slightly downhill, it rained slightly, next day it was wet in passenger rear footwell also just the other side of the hump under drivers seat, so unless water flies i'll be buggered how it has got either side of the hump?

any suggestions anyone!!! vrs 07 plate

Its not torx for the seat rails, its a spline drive. M40 from memory but might be M50. One bolt at the end of each rail and they come right out (assuming no connection for heated seats or airbag etc)

Ah yes, M40 would be a bit big LOL Think I was getting my torx and my spline sizes interchanged

Be very careful when replacing seat bolts 'cos it's easy to cross thread them.

Have you had your rear doors resealed, Is the rear washer working as it should?

If the answer to both is no, Don't be too hasty to whip out your seats!

If the doors are leaking any water would wick forward over the 'hump' as it was facing downhill!

To both is a YES, which is why it's bugging me now, I did read a thread somewhere where a guy had the same problem as me on his vrs se, photo's aswell, but do you think I can find this thread, as i wanted to find out from him if he ever got to the bottom of his leak cos i guess it might save me a lot of hassle, anyhow, thanks buddy, fingers crossed ah

thanks for you help, have ordered off amazon the spline key set.... so for my next question if you don't mind..... bought a manual to do the timing belt myself (have done b4 but on a escort) but it doesn't list my engine, only ASZ besides others, but mine is a BLT engine, but the ASZ seems the closes ... any ideas....thanks again

The engines are basically identical.

Another culprit can be the pollen filter/air vent intake system up above/behind the glovebox. Can leak when clogged up with leaves. I would remove the pollen filter first as easy to do without removing the glovebox. There's a guide on here somewhere - two slidy catches you move outwards and the frame holding the panel filter pulls down. (or falls right out )

It's not a difficult job, but certain bits of it can be a faff on first aquaintance and a good range of spanners is helpful - a couple of offset rings for the recessed engine mount bolts come in handy.

Hi, guess you have done one then... just phoned me local skoda dealer aking if they hire out tools, the answer was no, so where do i get the tool to lock the crank & cam into place?? any idea

Good to order a set as there are other splines. M8 to M12 is a good set to keep handy.

Yep, it' defo a M10, ordered bit & job now done.... you see the same crap when you lift the carpet as you do when you pull out the washer or tele, mine was sand from the beach, loads of it

The cross member under the drivers seat (and presumably the similar one under the passenger seat) isn't solid and there are holes that will allow water to travel front to back or the reverse.
