Cleaning product advice

Featured Replies

Right now I'm just using Meguiar's (sp?) Gold shampoo & conditioner on my Yellow Peril Furby, as the weather has generally been too bad to spend too much time waxing just to watch it get splattered as soon as I get off the drive.

Having said that, what would you guys recommend for a decent fast-application wax I can slap on quickly that would help repel a bit more of the road-gunk? I don't really want to spend hours buffing every weekend, nor do I have the time, usually. In the summer when there's not so much rain, it will be a bit different obviously ;)

I'm looking for the best finish with a single application (after washing), without spending too much time on it. I don't mind spending a few quid on the product if the results are good.

Any suggestions? :)

Swissol do some good waxes...get very nice results (do a search on here and you should find some pictures of results).

It's not the quickest of stuff to apply, but it's relatively durable, so you won't need to be out there every weekend...think it's typically a few months between applications at least.

That's kind of my problem though... I know Swissol do a large selection, as do 3 or 4 other companies. My question is more of a 'which one specifically'?

There are so many to choose from.... :o

Swissol have an online form that you can fill in with details of your car and colour, and they will send you a recommendation of which product will be best suited.

Or you could just buy the cheapest one, they're all good... :D

I'd go for the Swissol Shield with Teflon or similar from Macguirs.

Assuming you've got a decent coat of wax on it prior to the winter, I'm going to suggest something which will get me shot by the purists - Turtle Wax spray on wax :D Clips on to your hosepipe. Wash the car and rinse as normal. Clip the bottle to the hose and then spray over the car. Dry the car as normal afterwards, no buffing required . Works pretty well and at least seals the wax/car against the really nasty stuff until its time to cleanse and wax again in the Spring :D

Used to use that on the Colt. If I remember it's not wise to spray too much of it on your windscreen.
