iPod drives

Featured Replies

Hi guys, random question but if you had a broken iPod/iPhone, could the drive (I presume they are ssd in the more recent ones) be used for alternate things, ie a drive in a pc etc?

They don't have drive its just flash memory, on the modern ones anyway.

Highly unlikely you could use it in a computer without some kind of interface, although could possibly use it via USB.

The newer ones (iPhone, iPod touch, nano etc) all use flash memory which is soldered to the board.

If it's an older iPod then they have a tiny 1.8" HDD in them which will either be an IDE (older) or ZIF (newer) connector. Both require an adapter but are available.
