It was him indeed - big smiling face alongside his fully stickered WRC(although he is quoted as saying he gets more attention driving his wife's Almera  )

Perhaps it is pink? :gay:

Yep got mine in post :D good publicity for Skoda who are a well praised European Brand for its continued good ratings unlike other Euopean Brands. Well done to the Czech workers and managers at the Factories who have just started to get recognised for there comittment to designing and building first class products.

Good result for Fabia and Octavia's.

Well it was quite comical reading. As said, quality marks for fabia and octavia.

The funny bit was the cars rated, slated and hated by their owners. All the usual characters.Rover 25,citroen saxo(worst of the lot),Peugot 206(towards the bottom) Fiat Punto. In fact most of the french and Italian makes and models.

Why do people do it?Why do they buy cars that are heaps of junk, they are told they are heaps of junk and yet they still buy them!!!

This survey is the owners ratings, not the magazines views so what is going on :confused:Buy a bad car then slate it for all to see

Confess I have made mistakes in the past(rover based) but there are so many good cars out there, reliable and good looking. It seems the previously laughed at manufacturers(skoda ,hyundai, kia) are all taking advantage of the bigger boys complacency.

Was surprised to read electrical faults are common on the octy though. Not something I had heard before

It seems the majority of people still don't take advantage of the huge amount of information available to them, either magazine-based or internet-based.

I imagine quite a large majority of people originally look at cars based upon TV & billboard advertising, then get suckered by dealers who profess their cars are the best thing since sliced bread.

I will personally never let a salesman 'sell' to me & will tell him/her that to their face. If someone tries to oversell anything to me I will usually just walk away. Unfortunately it seems a lot of people fall for the sales pitch all too easily....

I guess its more to do with the fact that many of these cars get decent write ups on handling / performance etc, and the dealers often have good deals, meaning thet people ignore the reliability, dealer issues.

Was a bit surprised myself given that nobody seems to complain much on here about general electrical problems. I guess it does depend on what they call electrical - does it include coil packs? i know also that many VAG cars have had issues with the warning lights coming on a lot (often for no reason) so that could be something to do with it.

IMHO it is not just people who are ill-informed. It is also to do with what they've had before. Also, Rover had (has??) a lot of 'we support GB' buyers.

Other things come into play like buying cheapest, that kinda thing.

Every car has it's weaknesses. Depending on your driving style, number of people you shift, and general feelings towards car purchases (usually keep Mrs happy, no offence intended, but it has a BIG impact) it can be as simple as 'I like this colour better so that's what we're getting' ;)

ive had probs with my octy vRS electrics as has gayle with her fabia.

tbh gayles fabia has been in about 5times to the garage in the 1st 18months, not all electrics mind you. both cars have had full central locking failure!

I bought a Land Rover Freelander - people said I was mad! They usually come near the bottom of reliability tables. But I believed that was probably mainly owing to the 1.8's engine problems. I bought the V6 instead.

I drove it for 30,000 miles without incident.

I switched to the Fabia owing to cheaper insurance and MUCH cheaper fuel bills...

Some people spurned me for debasing myself with a Skoda...

Perhaps it is pink? :gay:

Can't believe it... I go away for a week and come back to this :P

I was indeed there. Complete with (home made) Briskoda plates (at the last minute)

AE snapper asked me to remove them. I mentioned Briskoda lots of times.

And, I never said 'wife'. I said 'other half'. It's true, though. More people stare at us in the Almera than in the Octy. Don't know why. Had the same phenomenon in her Fiat Bravoa as well.

Must be my devilish good looks.

Or it could be her enormous ......
