Projectors

Other than the WRC units that are stupid money, is there any other alternative? I really hate reflector head lights but cant find nothing for the octy other than those spastic hawk eye things. any ideas? ...

Soz m8 I have no idea what you're on about lol

when you say wrc are you meaning the road going ones with hid lights? Dunno what you mean by hawk eye?

ok, i want projector head lights. the only Octy ones i can find are the WRC ltd edition units which even from Euros are £500 each. Hawk eyes are the stupid Audi wannabe head lights with the LEDs running along the bottom of them looking like a a4/a5. these are very gash (imo)

every car i have ever modded i have put on some kind of oem(ish) looking projector replacment (normally depo etc) I cant find nish for the Octy. Im a skoda noob... i have no idea of all the Skoda goodies websites.

I think your best bet would be a set of lights from an Octy fitted with factory xenons. You may even get some complete/semi complete with the bulbs and balasts.

Have a look on ebay.

Very touchy question to ask on here, always get a bit of disagreement over HIDs.

You just need the OEM units from a high trim level Octavia e.g. the Elegance, L&K or VRS-WRC models, plus the headlight washers and then wire the levelling motors up to your dash level control. Then you are in effect running the OEM lights as if your car came from the factory with them (although factory fit ones had auto-levelling based on sensors in the suspension). The OEM units are megabucks though as you've already found, but you could just buy the OEM projector housings and washer units from ebay or a breaker and fit one of these £90 aftermarket bulb, ballast and wiring sets into them.

They are supposedly cracking down on aftermarket HIDs in the new MOT this year so OEM units are probably the safest option?

thanks for the replys. I think what im going to do is retro fit some dipped/driving light compatable projectors into the lamps i have already. I will remove the fog projectors and fit lower fogs or something. Projector units can be picked up for cheap so i mite have a play!

gotta be worth a pop. :)

Only thing I would be worried about is they were e marked or not. Might be a problem at MOT time or an over zealous copper stopping you.

Must admit that I thought about the idea myself as it would be different. If you do do it m8 could you take pics along the way, I'm. Keeping an eye on led technology. Noticed busses are starting to get them and I have wondered about fitting them in headlights, cutting out and replacing where the bulb goes and putting them in instead

i put some h3 LED tower bulbs in mine the day after i got it (had the from one of my other cars) and they looked great. Problem is the projectors that are in the headlights are obviously fogs, so they point to the floor. Unless i can re-direct the projectors i think ill have to replace them.

In regards to the E-marking, i would think as ling as the projector unit i get are marked they would be ok. we will see.. im on the hunt for a set of oe ones but im a tight arse, so aint paying loads for em.

The fog lights won't be any good as the beam patterns are all wrong. Wonder if you can get normal and main beam projectors separate, think it would look cool having 3 projectors in one headlight with the inside painted black lol

Just had an idea, what about motor bike lights? They would be e marked
