How would you fit these projectors?

I'm considering getting a set of these but it depends on the advice here

I know the legal ramifications and that I would have to add a washer feed to the bumper and they should work off the leveler (auto preferably)

What I want to know in simple terms is how on earth these work and how you'd fit them.

Do you take the headlights apart and "bodge it" by putting these inside, or do you have these as a "2nd" headlight mounted in the grill or something?

Or am I missing something altogether?

Ideally I'd love to get a set of stock xenon's but they are always way too much for me to even consider.

if i were doing it i would fit them into the reflector bowl in your own headlight, alongside the projector for the foglights. You would have to glue them in, its not an easy fit and will require care when splitting your headlights open.

Have seen it done on several american forums, doesnt look too hard to be honest.

Problem is they arn't e marked, might cause a problem at MOT time or if you get pulled.

There's an eBay seller who sells replicas of the standard Xenon light units. Worth a shot.

Get out of my head! i been planning this today!

I think the answer to your "how would you fit these" is...

Carfully!

Evnin all, the eBay seller is wing mirror woman they are about £69 each and are exact copies, without bulbs and ballast, but are out of stock, they said early January till they, get them in again but beginning to think they mean 2013 as still no show.

With regards the projectors, I fitted them with halos to my mk3 mondeo. The mondeo lends itself to these projectors haveing two round reflectors which the projectors sit into well. You have to split the headlight case with a hair dryer or low heat gun to melt the glue / sealent but the octy lights look a tighter fit so look as if they will be easier to crack or break. Also I,m not sure about the squareness of the octy lights suiting the round projectors but may give it a go again.

They look nice!

cheers, they where borrowed from a focus ST OEM projectors but fitted really well with a little gentle persuasion and topped of with some CFL Halo's and a 'Blackeye' conversion as they call it on the ford forums. the wiring was a little bit of a headache but got there through amazing support through Talkford forum which had plenty of pics too.

I considered doing same thing similar to this on my headlight but decided to wait and see if i could find any standard xenon lamps,

As regard to splitting headlights open i did mine with a headgun and they were a complete pain as the glue is really strong and takes some right cleaning off once you get them split,

You can buy the standard xenon headlights from dealer as a bare light with no bulbs/wiring and ballest in it, heard there about 80quid but not had chance to find out yet, if there not to bad then i might get that then put my own bulbs and ballest in them

I saved myself the hassle and kept it glue back together again with no leaks, but there was loads of it , like mastic.

Oh, that sounds interesting, i take it the glass of the projector is there or is it just the plastics,? but I suppose the after market /retrofit ones are a complete unit anyway so would just sit behind the hole.

Any chance of an eBay link for "wing mirror women"?

Cheers

I noticed they sold out of them quiet quick because i was going to get a set

Just search skoda headlights they sell loads so not hard to find

I emailed them again and said there may be a few on here interested, they said 3-4 wks until they have them again. Group buy anyone?

And these are for Mk1? As I could not see mk1 projectors on this link!

Yes mk1 xenons are what we are talking about. The one in the link will be for the mk2 as that is the only xenon octavia ones they have at the moment. But the mk1's they had and are getting back in look like OEM Mk1 xenons. Maybe even the same make but i'm sure i was told at some point that they are copies but I couldn't see any difference. And apparently need bulbs and ballasts! :wonder:

Ok hopefully I'm not asking a dumb question but I assume these lights will only fit mk1's that already have xenons and these won't plug and play into normal looms for halogen set up?

The L&K mk1 had xenons but 90% of others don't and they are not easily retro fitted with out spending a fortune on extra parts looms etc!

well, not entirely sure. I did ask what I needed to fit to my non xenon octavia and they said bulbs and ballasts but I'm not convinced. as said previously i have done this before to a mondeo and it was quite a bit of work to wire to my car so was hoping to avoid. as said previously though I may just get the xenon headlight shells and fit some of the bi-xenon projector kits off the Bay as this will solve a lot of issues albeit create some more with mounting it etc.

Maybe if you contact wing mirror woman to double check as I might get done with harassment if I contact them again as I have done it that often over the past few weeks.

they should come with ballasts and wiring adapters to fit your normal headlight setup, the loom should fit into the existing headlight holder base on one side the connect up to the new setup, you will have to run a positive/neg to the battery if its like the kits i have used in the past.

If they dont come with bulbs and ballasts you will need to buy a bulb and ballast kit to fit the projectors that you are fitting.
