Solid flywheel conversion

Featured Replies

Dual Mass Flywheel. The full conversion on the 1.8T replaces the clutch and DMF with a Golf VR6/G60 single mass flywheel and clutch combo.

The idea of this mod originally was to save money because it meant next time the clutch needed replacing you wouldn't have to fork out £200+ for a new DMF at the same time

I'd been quoted £430 fitted that includes brand new flywheel and clutch all the bolts for both and also labour, genuine VW bits. Only downer is they won't offer a warranty as it's not the OEM clutch.

Is it the clutch or the brakes? Both smell the same!

Mmmm not to sure now you stay that. It was wet yesterday so couldn't get the brakes hot enough and it's freezing so found it hard to get them really hot but the n/s did smell a lil bit the same smell I've noticed

Hi,I just fitted a new LUK DMF and clutch for my Octy and I got it for £180 delivered from a guy on ebay. The clutch pedal is so light.

Is it possible to see through the inspection hole what type of flywheel the car has. I have a 2001 1.9TDI.

Only had it 2 weeks so still finding my way around. But this morning 3 up and holiday luggage I thought I could feel clutch slip, yet on my way home (just me) it seemed fine, accelerated 50-90mph no problem!!

Any comments gratefully received.
