VRS Estate, now Lowered

Featured Replies

Took the opportunity to give the car some TLC this afternoon and thought I'd get some pics of it since it's been lowered with the Eibach pro kit. Also fitted new VW nut covers and some Skoda valve caps just to finish it off.

Certainly sits a lot better, not stupidly low but enough to just improve the looks more than anything although it also handles really nice now, slightly firmer ride but not uncomfortable!

Here she is anyway...

Looks great.

Needs a wash?

:giggle:

Noice. How's the ride and what does the sticker on the rear side windows say?

I had Eibachs on 205/45/17s on my Focus - thought the ride was very nice but the first time I drove it over a concrete section of a motorway, it felt like the car was shaking itself to bits :giggle:

I'm currently torn between Eibachs and KW springs for my hatch.

Blimey, is that 'back to black' tyre spray or actual gloss black paint!?!?!

Looks great mate

I can't comment on the KW's but the ride on the Octavia is not massively different - Honestly it rides lovely, tiny bit firmer to be expected but not crashy, or too hard that it feels uncomfortable or strange... I was told Eibach did a lot of work with a VRS estate as they used one themselves to test various rates and a lot went into the set-up so not sure exactly what the truth is but I'm really happy I went for it.

Haha thanks, just Meguiars Endurance Gel though so no paint! I use the same applicator all the time on all cars I do so it's pretty loaded up with product but I really like the glossy finish.

Ahh sorry to hear you had yours taken, I am a bit concious that may happen but they were only £3 on Ebay, take a look as the guy had loads!

Nice finish on the wheels and the paint's looking in great condition emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Thanks Wardy, really pleased with the colour I went for with the wheels, I think they suit it perfectly! The paint took a bit more work to get right but it's looking better then ever now, this Race Blue is such a great colour when prepared and waxed properly... Last night I popped to the Petrol Station and couldn't help but smile as I walked back out to see it there under the bright lights, it really stood out and almost looked like it was glowing.

eibach make kw springs ;) and kw make eibach dampers ;)

Those wheels..........

It still needs to settle a bit, but the Eibachs have certainly taken the edge off.

Looks absolutely superb Nick...BTW what colour are the wheels?

They look like smoked chrome, but I could be wrong!

Always the plan Moley..

Love it, looks really somethIng. Would love to get mine lowered, but mines not a vrs so it defeats the whole object of getting a soft riding elegance

Thanks guys - I still smile when i look at the car now, so pleased with how it looks compared to when I got it!

The colour of the wheels is an odd one, they're powdercoated but I believe they're done Black, and then a light misting of silver sprayed over the top

Looks great. Seems to be the right balance between improved looks and handling and usable ride height and comfort.

I'm on Eibach's website now looking at costs!

EDIT. Have you just changed the springs with stock dampers?

Thanks, that's what I wanted - I like the look of them on Coilovers but it's just not practical for me. The ride is really good and yeah I just changed the springs!

That looks the nuts mate!

Paint is spectacular - I thought mine was shiny but thats like a whole new colour! Whats the prep on that?

Wheels look great but (please don't take this the wrong way) lose the valve caps. Plain old black ones look best IMHO and don't draw attention from the little scroats..........just my opinion you understand :-)

Paint takes a fair bit of work to get it properly machine polished and refined (3-stage) and I did use some rather expensive Wax on top as a treat to myself (£800 a pot) - Usually reserved for paying customers but thought I'd use it on my own for once haha.

I know what you mean but I lost a plastic one and found these for about £3 on Ebay so thought they'd finish the wheels off nicely.
