Farewell to 170CR DSG Elegance Twindoor

Recommended Posts

Well, after almost 55,000 miles my 2009 Superb II 170 CR TDi DSG Elegance Twindoor will

be exchanged on Monday (30th Jan) for a new 3.6 V6 4x4 DSG Combi.

Along the way HM09 MLO consumed 1,165.98 Gallons of Diesel at a cost of £6,528.07

It returned an overall average of 46.793 Miles per Gallon.

I had a monthly Service and tyre contract so I do not know the exact servicing costs

but the car had 10 new tyres (4 due to punctures) and the four on the car are all

very good (2 recently fitted). This was a bad decision by me and did not provide

value for money. I was on a long service interval with the car being serviced at

9K, 28.5K and 47K miles.

Other Costs:

1 blown fuse - fitted by dealer under warranty £0.67

1 DPF Re-charge £37.50

1 DPF Sensor Change No-Charge (Warranty)

1 Litre Oil £16.50

1 Software and map upgrade for Columbus £37.50

2 Front sidelight bulb replacement £24.50

1 Front Numberplate £15.00

1 Set front wiper blades (Halfords) £24.99

Total other costs £157.16

Car Tax £310.00

Insurance £1,175.00

In some ways sorry to see it go, but now the real fun starts.

Before everyone states the obvious, costs will be different. I am looking forward

to a quieter, more relaxed drive, in comfort, and I am prepared to pay for the

priviledge of owning and driving such an astonishing vehicle.

Cor, think of all the unleaded fumes on Downs Court Road! ;-)

Must confess that having smelt diesel for the last 3 years it's a pleasant change - and what an engine :-).

Fortunately it will spend most of it's time on A roads and Motorways.

Will use the wife's car for short local commutes.

Congratulations for the new 3.6 V6 ! I am sure it will be a great car.

What is this DPF Re-charge supposed to be?

When I took the car in for what I believed to be a faulty DPF sensor, they told me that the build up of soot was too high and they needed to force a re-charge which I assumed was only something they can do with computer as car was not doing it itself. I was surprised as I am not a town driver and car was often driven for long distances at 70-80 mph. When DPF light came on again within 24 hrs they had to fit a new sensor and would not offer refund. Said I was partly to blame for driving 200-300 miles with warning light on.

No more DPF to have to worry about.

I must admit, I havent had my car on an A road without putting the gearbox in sport mode. Its addictive :giggle:

What an engine! Need to run it in a bit before I get too enthusiastic.

Jealous (see sig)

Hi davekmoore,

Ref your sig...can you please moderate your demands on Santa...now I know why there was bugger-all in my stocking last Christmas. He has a long way to go after he'd sorted out you lot, down-under!

cheers Simon
